I woke up, I recognized that I was in a truck. I then looked and saw that Sena was driving. Jamie was in the middle with a stuffed animal in her arms.

"S-Sena?" I asked weakly. She looked over at me. I saw the surroundings outside, it didn't look like we were in our hometown anymore.

"Hey." She said

I looked at my wound and saw a bandage over it

"How did you..." I started to say. She smiled proudly but I could tell she was tired. I finally say, "You saved our lives."

"Yeah, I know."

"Where are we? Where are we going?"

"We're in Georgia, we're going to the refugee center."

"Wh-Sena, I didn't even have a say in this?" I asked, now getting worked up

"Don't, you can rupture something." She said trying to calm me down

"I know that! But I didn't even get to see if my family was alive or dead or-"

Sena's facial expression told me to shut up. After a moment of me being silent, she continued

"When I went to your house, there was no one there-"

"What about my sister and parents?!-" I started to tear up

"I don't know." We both were silent

"How about your family?" I asked quietly after a moment

She shook her head, confirming that they were gone.
..
I wanted to bring up the Oliver incident to Sena. He wasn't touched by those creatures. Maybe it was airborne. I kept trying to figure out an answer as to why he turned. We then began to run out of gas. I looked up and saw the Atlanta skyline.

"It's dawn, I think they're more active at night." She said and I looked at her.

"What if this whole refugee center is a hoax? Why wasn't there one in Detroit?" I asked

"I heard there was one in Atlanta. It makes sense because the CDC is here."

We got out of the truck, I almost fell on the concrete when Sena caught me.

"Easy there." She said

"Do we have weapons?" I asked

She nodded, "I grabbed a few hand held tools from my garage." She grabbed a couple of metal tools from the bed of the truck. After her and I chose a weapon, we start walking down the expressway towards Atlanta. There were hundreds of cars blockading the city.

Jamie runs up to me and holds my hand
"How are you doing?" I asked Jamie. She put her head against my hip

"I'm hungry." She said

The thought of food made me even weaker, I looked at Sena.

"Did you bring any food?" I asked

She took off her backpack and gave us some Poptarts.

"What do we do if we run into a herd of them?" Sena asked me quietly.

I looked forward, we were about a quarter mile away from the blockade now.
"I don't know, I guess we'll have to hope that we don't."

We cautiously passed through blockade and were now in Atlanta. All was quiet and still except for all the newspapers flying around in the streets. It was an eerie sight and feeling. I had doubts of the CDC being a safe haven.
