It was already dark outside when Five and Riley stopped in front of the building.

"I don't have a good feeling about this," Riley muttered.

"Me neither," Five replied, holding the invitation in his hand. "But we have no other choice."

The couple entered the building and stepped into the elevator.

Riley pressed the button and waited for the elevator door to close.

The door was about to close when someone put his hand in between.

"Wait up," Diego said, also stepping into the elevator as well.

"Hold it."

"Hey, everyone."

"Excuse me."

Allison, Klaus, Vanya, and Luther followed.

"Good. We're all here," Five commented as the elevator doors closed.

The doors opened again a few moments later on another floor.

"All right, when Dad gets here, Riley and I'll do the talking, okay?" said Five.

"Got a few questions for him myself," replied Diego.

"Hey, we don't want to scare him off. He might be able to help us stop doomsday, get us home."

"No, we need to figure out why he's planning to kill the president."

"This is a matter of life and death, you imbecile."

"Okay, yeah, maybe we should take turns talking. Yeah?" Vanya suggested. "Here, whoever has got this conch shell gets to talk."

"V, I'm sorry, but we don't have time for a debate," said Riley and took the conch shell from Vanya.

"Maybe I should lead. We all know I'm a better public speaker than the rest."

Allison tried to take the conch shell from Riley, but the teenager quickly pulled their hand away.

They just raised an eyebrow as Allison looked at them in surprise.

"Okay, Daddy's girl," Diego scoffed.

"Oh, jealous, Number Two?"

"Hey, no more numbers. No more bullshit. We're Team Zero. We're all Team Zero."

"Uh, Diego. You don't have the conch," Luther pointed out to his brother.

"Oh, sorry," said Diego. "Riley?"

The teenager handed him the conch shell, and Diego threw it against the wall, where it shattered into a thousand pieces.

"Classic," commented Allison.

At that moment, a door opened and Reginald Hargreeves entered the room.

Without saying a word, he walked over to the table and sat down.

"Not only have you burglarized my lab, set my chimp loose, conned your way into the Mexican consulate, repeatedly stalked and attacked me, but you have, on numerous occasions, called me–"

"Hey, Pop. How's it hangin'?" Kaus asked after letting himself fall on the chair next to Reginald.

"– Dad. My reconnaissance tells me you're not CIA, not KGB, certainly not MI5, so... Who are you?"

"We're your children," Riley replied. "We're from the future. In 1989, you adopted us all and trained us to fight against the end of the world. Called us the Umbrella Academy."

"Why on earth would I adopt seven–"

"Eight. One of us isn't here."

"Dead. One of us is dead–"
