A Baby For Kydd

He was nervous as he picked her up. He texted up to wear something a bit more classy. He said that the place didn't let you in with shorts and shirt. So she picked out one of her Sunday's best. As she got ready she wondered what he had in mind. When he picked her up he rang the doorbell and her father answered. They talked a bit before the couple left. He wasn't talking much. He was sweating a bit, and he couldn't stop fidgeting. She touched his arm. He took a hold of her hand and kissed it.

They walked into the nice restaurant, he held the door open as she walked in. The nice hostes asked " Reservation? "
" Knight, table for two. "
She glanced down at her book.
" Right this way Mr. And Mrs. Knight. Kydd grinned wide, Mr. and Mrs. Knight! She kinda liked the sound of that. As they followed the hostes to their table she looked around. He had put this all together for her? Reservations. This was so beautiful. She loved this surprise, she adored the fact that he thought of her.

They took their seats at a table by a big wall made out of glass inside was a small bit of the ocean. She was mesmerized by the fish in the tank.
Two menus were handed to them.
A waiter walked over " Hello, my name is Josh. I'll be your server tonight. Can I start you off with a glass of our wine of the night. "
Cobain spoke. " We don't drink. "
" No, problem sure we have water, sweet tea, soda, and sparkling cider. "
" Babe, are you okay with sparkling cider? "
Kydd nodded and the waiter walked away promising to return in a second.
" Order whatever you want baby girl. "
Kydd studied the menu for a bit. The whole place had a ocean theme yet they didn't serve seafood. Made sense she thought. It probably would be terrible for the fish to see their friends getting eating with a side of salad or French fries. She looked up at Cobain. He still looked nervous.
" They don't serve seafood.."
Cobain looked at her.
" I mean don't you find it odd that the theme is ocean and no seafood is served? "
Cobain's smile broke across his face.
Dinner went smoothly after that. He wasn't nervous anymore. She ordered a Ceaser salad. And he ate a steak and potatoes. And a dessert they shared a brownie with vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate.
" Kydd, I need to tell you something. "
She looked at him.
" Since I met you I've felt way I've never felt before. I've dated other girls. But none and I mean none of them make me feel the way you make me feel. I love you baby girl."
Her heart stopped. I'm talking stopped. He said the words. He said it!
" I love you too! "
She really did! She had secretly been saying it for a couple of weeks. After they hung up on the phone. When he hugged her. And a million times when they kissed.
" I want you to have something. I mean technically you have had it since the night at the park. But.. "
He pulled out a small blue box. Opening it, she saw a small silver heart on a chain. With the words LOVE carved in it.
Her eyes welled up with tears. He stood up and put it on her.
" Now you have a reminder."
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his lips.
He kissed her back..

She couldn't stop touching the necklace. They were in the car and he was talking her home. Tonight had been the most beautiful, most romantic night of Kydd's life. She squeezed his hand tight. And he squeezed back.
As she saw her street she grew a bit sad, she didn't want the night to end. Why did she have to have a curfew?? Tonight she was going to ask her parents for a later curfew. 8 pm was a bit early. As he pulled into her driveway he took off his seatbelt off and got out. He opened her door, helped her out and pulled her close. He kissed her with his soft lips. Before walking to her door.
" I'll call you as soon as I get home. I love you. "
She pulled him in for one more kiss. " I love you too."

That night she layed in bed replaying the nights events. As she played with the small heart, he gave her.
She couldn't believe it. He was nervous because he had never been in love. She made him feel in love!? She felt giddy inside. Had she really made this former player fall in love?
