6. Good vs Evil vs Her?

Kydd sat on the hospital bed waiting on her parents.
She had already called them telling them everything that happened in gym class.
Especially the part of Cobain's heroic self. How despite the protest of the gym teachers and school officials. Took Kydd out of school and drove her to the emergency room.
And stayed by her side.
She wondered what she had done now to make Taylor so angry with her besides the whole dating Cobain issue.

Cobain cleared his throat.
" This is all my fault Kydd.."
She stared into his eyes pushed his hair back.
" No it's not.."
He looked at her stomach.
And she wondered if he meant the baby.
The doctors already said Bean would be okay. And that the events had no effect on him..
What could he possibly mean?

" I need to tell you something, I'm afraid that if I do I would be risking the chance of losing you and Bean. Forever. "
Tears filled his eyes and he reached out and touched her belly.
" Tell me, Cobain.."

" Look.. Before you moved here I had a relationship with Taylor.."
Kydd already knew this. She had heard it many times. Even from Taylor's mouth.
" I haven't really told you all of it. "
More? More to the rest. She wondered what more could there be? What hadn't he told her, what was he leaving out?

" Right from the start our relationship was rocky, she was a wild type. And no lies I loved it. The sex, the parties, and all of it. But the part I didn't like was how she put the blame on me when we would get in trouble.."
He he took a long deep sigh.
" She made me into the bad guy. She got me into drinking and smoking weed, that wasn't me that was what she wanted me to be. She plays this sweet innocent girl. When in fact she's not that at all kydd."
He looked at her his eyes were heavy, a deep sadness.
" What I'm about to tell you next I hope it doesn't ruin us..
I broke up with Taylor the first time. A month later she comes running to me telling me she's pregnant and it's mine. I freak out. I tried to do the right thing. I told my dad, and he said I was to young to be a dad. But I had to grow up. I start learning Taylor cheated on me, with some senior. And she bragged about it being his baby. But she didn't want him to get in trouble because he was older than her. So she passed it as mine. I broke up with her. She was so hurt and upset. She tried to kill herself. And instead caused herself to have a miscarriage.."
Kydd rubbed her stomach. She didn't care how mad Cobain made her or if he ever broke up with her. She couldn't dream of hurting Bean.

" All my friends turned their backs on me, after she made me out to be a really bad guy. So I turned to the drugs and alcohol. To numb the pain of losing myself mainly.."

He grabbed her hand and kissed it.
" I'm not that guy anymore Kydd. I promise you.."
She hoped not.
" Do you remember that day in gym when Taylor called you and I names? "
How could she forget?
" After school she called me telling me she misses me and all this stuff. I reject her, I want nothing more to do with her. Not even a friend. But how was I supposed to know she was going to hurt herself? The worst part is once again I was to blame. And when she was harassing you at the mall. I called her brother and told him to talk to Taylor. So what does she do? She has her friends break my phone and hit her so I would look like the bad guy."
He wiped away the tears from his eyes.
" I'm always the bad guy.."
She put her hand on his face.
" No, you're not Cobain..but answer me this one question the day after Taylor overdosed and you text me to meet you by the gym storage. You're eyes were blood shot red.. Were you high? "
He nodded slowly.
" I forgive you Cobain.."
The two shared a kiss.
And she nuzzled his neck.

And as her parents walked in, her father called Cobain over to the corner. The spoke quietly. Kydd's mother brushed Kydd's hair with her hand.
She looked at her mother.
" Bean's okay.. "
Her mother smiled " Bean? "
She motion towards Cobain.
" His nickname for the baby. "
Her mother rubbed Kydd's cheek.
" Let's get you and Bean home. "

Cobain and her father joined the group and Cobain reached out and squeezed Kydd's hand.
