A Baby For Kydd

As she drove the car to the mall she thought about what she would say to Cobain.
Could she trust him? He had already broken her trust several times. And this time it really was different. Kydd wasn't just thinking about herself. But nevertheless she was going to give him one final chance to change.

She got out of her car. The air was dry and hot. She was already sweating by the time she reached the mall doors.
She wish someone would have warned her about being pregnant in the summer. Now don't get her wrong she loved her sweet little baby bump and her sweet baby boy but it was so hot. And she was sweating in place she didn't know could sweat.

Cobain was standing outside.
He ran over to her as soon as he saw her walking towards him.
Her helped her into the door and to sit down on a bench.
" I'll be right back. "
He walked over to a vending machine and bought a water.
" Here you go."
Kydd took a big gulp of the water before talking.
" Thanks Cobain. "
He smiled " You're welcome, are you okay? "
Nodding Kydd answered " Yeah, just hot. "
He sat down on the bench next to her.
" We can sit here as long as you need to baby girl."
They sat for a bit before getting up and walking around.

Kydd squeezed Cobain's hand tight and he put one hand on her belly.
They stared at each other. And although they didn't talk something was said. She stood on her tippy toes and kissed his lips.
She really did miss him.

They walked into Journeys.
Kydd wanted to buy Bean a pair of his first pair of Converse. Cobain wanted to buy him Jordan's.
They both laughed as they playfully fought.
Cobain ended up buying both.
They held hands as they walked to the food court.

Later that night they kissed under the stars.
" I'm sorry baby girl. I promise to stay clean. I just want you and Bean."

She walked in her room and set her bags down just as her mom walked in.
" Hey, I want to show you something. "
Kydd followed her mom down the hall to her brother Giovanni's old room. He had moved into Matthew's old room. And he had moved out a month ago.
Her mom had transformed Giovanni's old room into a small nursery.
Kydd gasped as she walked inside.

The walls a light green color.
And her mother had painted jungle animals on the wall.
A lion sitting on a rock watching his cubs play.
A small monkey hanging from a tree. And a giraffe eating some leaves that hang above the crib. The crib was a dark chocolate color.
" Mom it's beautiful! "
Kydd hugged her tight as she cried happy tears.
" I was thinking you and I could do a little shopping tomorrow make a girls day out of it. What do you say Kydd-O? "
Kydd smiled " It's a date. "

" Mom, look at this.."
Kydd held up a soft blue blanket with monkeys on it.
Her mom touched it.
" It's so soft. "
They put it into the basket.
Kydd's phone chimed.

-- Thinking of you and Bean. Work sucks. It's hot.

She answered a quick text from Cobain.

-- With Mom. Shopping for Bean. Missing you. Bean kicking me. Love you and miss you.

She hit send. And a few minutes later it chimed again.

-- Future football star! Love you too. See you later Love.

She put her phone back into her pocket and looked at the clothes on the rack.
" So.. What's up with you guys Now? "
Kydd looked back at her mom.
" We're talking again, we aren't rushing things. "
Her mother set down a pack of receiving blankets.
" Kydd, I want you to be happy and I also want you to do what's best for Bean. I won't get into the relationship just do the right thing okay? "
She squeezed Kydd's shoulder.

The two continued shopping and talking about the little things that surrounded them.

Kydd ran into the house. She never had to pee so bad.
" A package came for you Kydd."
Giovanni said after she rushed past him.

Kydd sat on her bed staring at the package.
There was no address just sharpie marker scribbled the word KYDD across the small package.
She felt something hard in it. A key maybe?
She was a bit scared to open it.
She opened it slowly. Inside was a small USB stick and a scribbled note:
Watch me.

She grabbed her computer and stuck in the USB stick.

What happened next shattered Kydd's world completely.
