Safe and Sound

Waaah! Waaaaaaah!

The young couple diverted their eyes from the TV to the ceiling. "What does she want now?" Hiccup inquires while removing his arm from his wife's shoulders "Why can't she just sleep? I'm fed up with this!"

"It's ok, honey," Merida says, stroking away a loose lock of hair away from his face, "I'll go check on her." She kisses him softly on the cheek before heading upstairs to her daughter's bedroom.

Hiccup and Merida have been married for 2 years and have lived happily in their 3 floor house. A year ago, Merida have birth to a beautiful baby girl with bright green eyes, red hair with signs of curls and freckles sprinkled across her dainty face.

Merida entered her child's room and her howling immediately stopped when she saw her Mum. "Mama!" she whimpered "I scared Mama!" a single tear rolls down her face as her bottom lip slips under her upper lip. Merida swiftly strides over to her and bundles her in her arms giving her a big bear hug. She swings her round gripping firmly to her sides before sitting on a nearby chair and settling her on her lap.

"It's going to be ok Hazel," she soothes, gently rocking her back and forth.

"Sing me lull-by Mama!" Hazel begs, string into her mother's eyes with her beautiful forest-green ones. "Please Mama!"

"Alright sweetie," she says whilst thinking of a suitable song to sing her to sleep with. She begins to sing.

She cradles Hazel close to her chest while she sings softly to her. Behind them a guitar begins strumming to the tune creating a relaxing atmosphere. Merida turns her head around to the door to see Hiccup holding a guitar and standing in the doorway. He walks closer to them and begins to sing the rest of the song.

H- Don't you dare look out your window darling

Everything's on fire

The war outside our door keeps raging on

Even when the music's gone

Gone

He crouches next to them looking lovingly at their daughter.

They both look down at their sleeping daughter with grins spread on their faces. Merida gently lays her in her cot before joining Hiccup, tip-toeing through the door.

They make their way, back downstairs, to the living room and slump on the sofa they were on before. Hiccup quickly switches the TV off as his arm finds Merida's shoulders and hers wrap around his waist. They sing quietly between them, staring into each other's eyes.

H- Just close your eyes

M- The sun is going down

H- You'll be alright

M- No one can hurt you now

H- Come morning light

M- You and I'll be

B- Safe and sound

A/n End of one-shot number 3! I am seriously stuck for ideas now so any suggestions will do at the moment. I just need to knock a bit of inspiration into me for me to think of another one-shot idea.
