Merida POV

I walk along the sidewalk, midnight black and silver sequinned bag in hand. Tonight is the night me and my friends are going to scare the living daylights out of our neighbourhood.

I enter through the overly decorated garden gate, down the equally decorated path leading to an even more decorated house. I press the doorbell, a stereotypical villain's laugh ringing through the halls. The increasing sound of footsteps sounds from the other side of the door before a loud click is heard.

Half a face peers around the door's structure, timidly, before swinging it wide open and squealing. "Merida!" The figure yells running toward me and engulfing me in a bone-crushing bear hug.

"Nice to see you too Punz!" I wheeze as she releases me from her grip.

"Come on Mer! Come in!" she signals me to follow her and jogs into the house, her long, golden hair swishing behind her. I roll my eyes and stride into the house, closing the door behind me, before rushing to the room Punz went into. The living room.

I enter the room to be met with my three best friends; Jack, Hiccup and, of course, Rapunzel. "Hey Frizzball!" Jack greets, his signature irritating smirk plastered on his face.

"Good to see you too Snowman!" I say sarcastically, flashing him an evil grin.

"Hey Mer!" Hiccup waves in a normal, friendly greeting. He walks over to the doorway I'm standing in and takes my bags from me, placing them in a pile in the corner. I can't help a small pink colour climbing up my neck, but fortunately, no one seems to notice.

"Thanks Hic," I gulp quietly, joining Punz and Jack on the carpet.

"Who's up for some scaring?!" Punzie suddenly yells making us all jump out of our skins.

"You've done a pretty good job of scaring us already, Punz, and we haven't even changed into our costumes yet!" Jack chuckles receiving a shove in the shoulder. "Babe! You know I didn't mean it!" he whines. This time he receives a peck on the cheek.

"Happy?" Punz asks quietly.

"Happy!" Jack replies with a goofy grin spread upon his face. Hiccup and I sit awkwardly on the floor watching the couple.

"You done yet?" I ask irritably.

"Calm down Red! Save it for the scaring!" Jack says.

"I'm gonna go get ready!" Hiccup announces after a moment of awkward silence. We reply in a series of nods and 'yeah's. I collect my bag and dash up the stairs with Punz to get changed in her room.

***

We make our way downstairs all dressed in our costumes.

I wear a knee length, forest green dress with a thick, brown, leather belt across my waist. A quiver of wooden arrows slung against one hip, my prize bow over one shoulder. Green, knee-high boots cover my feet and ankles. My hair is tied back with a leather hairband and another brown leather strip is wrapped around my neck.

Next to me, Rapunzel wears a purple, sleeveless, leather corseted top over a white, cotton blouse. A short, purple, pleated skirt dangles just above her white, knee-high socks. Purple dancing shoes cover her petite feet. A blood-red, hooded cloak drapes across her shoulders, a straw-woven basket balanced on her forearm.

"These costumes are hardly scary are they?" I chuckle at Punz.

An evil smirk plays on her lips as she turns to me. "Trust me. They will be" She carries on walking down the stairs, my curious eyes watching her suspiciously.
