The Elements Part 2

Hiccup POV

I watched from the undergrowth as my best and only friends were dragged away to the Edgmead cells. I felt bad. But I felt betrayed.

They were one if them. Another element. They'd betrayed us. They betrayed me.

Tears run rivers down my cheeks as I recall the times we'd spent together. How Jack and Merida were the bickering DunBroch siblings everyone adored. How Rapunzel was the star pupil despite her having no powers. How I'd playfully tease them all about not having developed their powers yet. How wrong I was.

I couldn't sleep that night. I felt guilty. They were my best friends. They were there with me through thick and thin. They were the only ones I could be myself with. With them, I had no expectations. Now they were under lock and key because of this stupid war! I decided to go and apologise.

I crept down the stairs and out of the front door. I tip tied by the grand hall and stopped. I heard shouting. My father's voice.

"They're spies!" he exclaims angrily. "they've been sent by the other elements to spy on us! It makes perfect sense! Why would they become friends with my son? Because he's a nice person? Of course not! They befriended him to get to me!" he bellows then lowers his voice. "They'll exec cured by sunrise."

Merida and Jack's parents stand in shackles in the corner, struggling and screaming protests about the declaration of their death sentence.

"Enough!" my father bellows. "You'll be hung at dawn! Guards!" The guards grab the couple and drag them away to face their fate.

I had a plan.

Merida POV

"Calm down Merida," Rapunzel soothes.

"How can I?" I ask in exasperation. "He's gone! We've lost him! All because of this stupid war!"

Jack crouches in front of me. "Merida," he chokes "There's nothing we can do. We'll be dead by morning."

"Jack!" Punz scolds "That's really not helping!"

"It's over Punz!" he yells. "We're a disgrace! We've betrayed our families! Everyone hates us!"

"We're quite aware of that Jack!" I scream. "We failed our parents! We couldn't keep our powers concealed! They're probably dead by now, because of us!"

I lean against the wall surrounding the cell. Jack sits beside me and Punz sits on the other side of him.

"At least we can spend our last few hours with each other," Jack whispers, reaching for our hands. We gladly intertwine our hands with his and huddle together in the cell.

I woke up to the sounds of metal against stone.

I sit up, my back still pressed up to Jack's side. He had Punz clinging to his chest, his arm wrapped protectively round her shoulders while his other laid on my upper back.

Another sound rings across the cell.

"Hello?" I call into the darkness behind the iron bars. "A-Anyone there?"

It can't be time for our ex eviction yet, surely. We still have until morning! I think in rage.

A familiar set of green eyes glow from between the bars. "Hiccup?" I ask in disbelief, my shock soon turning to anger. "Come to grasp the honour of killing us have you?"

"Nice to see you too Mer," he retorts sarcastically as the door creaks open. He kneels beside me. "I'd never heard you." he says, barely above a whisper as he tucks a loose curl behind my ear.

"You need our help yet Hic?" a voice hisses from the shadows.

"Come on then!" He hisses in response. Four figures escape the darkness and step I to the moonlit cell. Snotlout. Ruffnut. Tuffnut. Fishlegs. "I thought it'd be harder to get to you so I brought back up." he explains.

"And now I'm starting to regret it," Tuffnut whines, crossing his arms.

"Yeah! I could totally be causing havoc right now!" his twin sister, Ruffnut, complains.

"Shut up and do what I asked of you!" Hiccup orders quietly.

"Yes sir!" Snotlout salutes sarcastically and exits the room, closely followed by the rest.

"Why are you here?" I whisper in a husky tone.

"To save you from your tragic fate, Mi'lady!" he answers dramatically before kissing my cheek lightly. "Better wake up frosty and Punz." I nod quickly and nudge Rapunzel awake.

"How are we gonna get out of here, you're dad's bound to get us or you killed if he sees us!" I panic. Hiccup wraps his arms around me protectively.

"Anything is possible."

A/n I tried! I kinda ran out of ideas but tried my best to update quickly and come up with something readable. Hope you liked it!

I have just got through half of Miraculous LadyBug and am now completely obsessed. I ship LadyNoir so hard. So sorry if I'm total LadyNor and ML trash. It'll wear of soon... I think.
