This is my idea

The two couples looked lovingly at their children.

"Our beautiful first borns," Queen Elinor coos as she tickles her wild haired baby girl under the armpits majig her giggle uncontrollably.

"My beautiful lass," King Fergus throws her in the air (and catches her).

The other couple smiles at the family and look down at their own brown haired baby boy. "I can tell you're going to do great things, Son." Cheif Stoick says boldly, taking him carefully from the crib.

"He has your eyes," his wife, Valka, observes.

"He has your hair," he looks down at his new family. "An agreement?" He turns to the other family.

"A betrothal," Elinor says excitedly.

They place their newborns in their cribs and make their way to the great hall where they'd write the confirmation papers for the betrothal of their children.

An agreement between Cheif Stoick the Vast of the Hairy Hooligan tribe and King Fergus of Clan DunBroch:

When Hiccup Horrendous Haddock and Merida DunBroch reach the age of 17 they will be wedded and unite their kingdoms together.

10 years later

The wild, red-head princess rides into the forest on her trusted shire horse, Angus. Today was her 10th birthday and it was inevitable that the Haddocks would be coming round; it was like that every year. So she escaped from the reaches of the castle for as long as she could and enjoyed her birthday in the open air.

The auburn haired chief's son stood vacantly at the side of the ship, staring longingly out to sea. He was on his way to Princess Merida DunBroch's 10th birthday. He saw it coming. Every birthday they were forced to meet up, much to their annoyance, and formally wishing her a happy birthday; formally meaning he'd have to kiss her hand. The though if it made him gag. It had been his 10th birthday only a few weeks before and, as always, the hot-headed princess visited just like all the years before that. Hiccup's friend, Jack Frost, had been their and Merida had gotten annoyed that they wouldn't allow her to play their games. However, this visit was going to be different, he was sure, as she was the one in charge. He feared having to play dolls or dress up but kept his head high as the outline of DunBroch came into view.

The ships soon docked on the shores of DunBroch and Vikings poured out onto the coast. The royal family was there to meet them. "Fergus!" Stoick booms.

"Stoick!" Fergus bellows. They seize each other in a bone crushing hug.

"It's been weeks!" Stoick jokes.

"It's nice to see you again Valka" Elinor says sweetly, eyeing the two men with caution.

"You too Elinor," Valka replies. They curtsy for one another.

Their children, however, didn't bother to greet each other. They weren't going to do anything they didn't want without being forced to do so. So they just glared at one another, arms folded on their chests.

"Let's go to the great hall!" Feegus announces followed by cheers and claps. The party make their way to the castle closely followed by the ignorant heirs.

Queen Elinor and King Fergus took their places on their thrones and Merida followed suit reluctantly. Hiccup Stoick and Valka stood in front of them. Hiccup gets a nudge in the ribs, forcing his glaring eyes from the Princess'.

"Go and greet her." Stoick says harshly, shoving him in front of him. Merida, too, gets a slight shove forward. She turns back only to be forced to face the boy she hated so dearly.

"So happy you could come," she says poshly, curtsying and putting on a fake smile.

"So happy to be here," he bows and takes her hand, pressing his lips to it. Both had the sudden urge to gag but held it in.

"The celebratory feast!"

6 years later

It was Hiccup's 16th birthday and the DunBrochs were staying with them. They hadn't visited for 2 years now but he was sure the Princess was still as irritating as ever. He sighed in annoyance as he steered Toothless, his best friend and fearsome dragon, to the cove to savour his freedom before having his duties to carry out.

Later that day it was announced that the DunBroch ships were docking. The Haddocks stood at the docks as Queen Elinor and King Fergus stride off the boat.

"Congratulations on your newborn," Valka praises happily.

"Newborns," Elinor corrects.

"They're wee devils already!" Fergus laughs heartily.

"Well that's going to be a handful!" Stoick chuckles. "One's enough for me." he slaps Hiccup on the back almost sending him face first into the grass.

"Where's Merida?" Valka asks.

"She's still on the boat, her horse got seasick so she's just tending to him. She'll be out shortly." Elinor explains warmly.

"Tell her to meet us in the great hall. A feast awaits!" Stoick bellows.

"We will," Elinor bows her head and heads back onto the boat.

"See you later Stoick!" Fergus bids goodbye and follows his wife.

"You too old fella!" Stoick chuckles and heads off to the great hall followed by Hiccup and Valka.

The two leaders told their mighty battle stories and shared manly humour as their wives chatted amongst themselves. Hiccup say alone, prodding his Yak meat with his fork.

A blur of red shot past and settled at a place not far from him. He whips his head up to come face to face with the girl he'd loathed for many years. She looked prettier than their last meeting but still as mischievously annoying as ever.

Later that day Hiccup walked, by himself, to his house; ha da in pockets, head down, feet scuffing the track below. A loud pounding of feet whizzed around the corner in front of him- too quick for him to react.

In an instant he was sent onto the floor with the weight of a person on his chest. All he saw was a mass of red curls and deep blue eyes before their lips collided.

A/n I'm so sorry I haven't updated in ages. I just haven't had many ideas.

As you may know I have about 3 books on the go at the moment, none of which have been updated recently. If you've read any of my other stories please tell me which one you'd like me to update the most, I want to write more frequently and write the stories people will like reading as much as I like writing them.
