Hiccup unlocked the doors to the music block allowing a river of students to flow through them and into the main classroom. He worked as the music teacher at Berk acadamy teaching teens the wonders of music. He loved his job, he loved during his passion with the younger generation.
"Good morning class," he greets as they all took a seat. "Today I want you to work in groups to create an ensemble of Stand by me to perform to the class at the end of the lesson. Off you go."
The class dispersed into the various rooms of the music block, grabbing instruments and sorting themselves into groups as they went.
Hiccup sat down to mark his Year 10s' classical music theory work when he heard the door open. He looked up from his work to see the school's receptionist walking into the main classroom, a young woman with wild red hair following behind her. He stood up to greet them.
"Mr. Haddock," the receptionist begins. "This is Miss. DunBroch. She works at DBJ studios and will be working in your classroom for the next few months. I know you'll make her very welcome." And with that she left him and Merida in the music room.
"I'm Hiccup. Hiccup Haddock." He extended his hand out towards her. She took it gladly.
"Merida DunBroch." She replies cheerily. Her rosy cheeks stretched into a wide grin, her freckles scattered across her cheeks in a cute way, her eyes sparkling.
"Well Merida." A welcoming smile dancing across his face. "I hope you enjoy your time here."

"OK kids!" Hiccup clapped his hands together as he addressed his class. "I'd like to introduce you to Miss.DunBroch. She'll be spending a while working in our class. I expect you to give her the same respect you give me."
A boy with brown hair and glasses raises his hand.
"Yes Sebastien?"
"Are you a music teacher Muss.DunBroch?" He asked curiously.
Merida took a few steps froward so she was now beside Hiccup. "Not exactly. I work for DBJ recording studios. I'm here to widen your musical awareness and get a feel of what teaching is like."
The class stared at her in wonder. Sebastien raised his hand once more. "Yes Sebastien?" This time it was Merida who addressed him.
"Do you play?"
"I do. Do you want to hear some?" Their eager nods made her smile from ear to ear. She picked up a guitar and positioned herself on a stool. Her fingers began plucking skillfully across the strings to Rather be By Clean Bandit.
Hiccup couldn't help but feel mesmerized by her talent; the way her fingers glided across the notes, the gentle tapping of her foot, the way a lock of curly ginger hair fell in front of her eyes as she played. He felt himself staring as the song came to a close.
The class erupted in applaise, snapping him from his trance. Immediately he began to clap along with everyone else.

The class filed out of the classroom, sending words of admiration to Merida. He smiled at how happy she seemed to feel around the kids, the same way he did. A small hand rugged at his sleeve. He turned to see Sebastien.
"Mr.Haddock?"
"Yes Sebastien?"
He gave a quick glance to Merida who was making her way back to the music room before continuing. "You like her don't you? Miss.DunBroch."
Hiccup's eyes grew the size of dinner plates and he felt his face flush. "What? Why did you think that?" His words came out nervously.
"I saw how you looked at her when she was playing," Hiccup's eyes turned to the door where the red head was headed. "You like her, don't you?"
"I do," He breathed. Realizing what he'd said he immediately stuttered. "I- I think its time for you to get to your next class. Thanks for the talk Sebastien."
He said his farewell and congratulated Merida as he walked out the door. "What did he want to talk about?"
"Oh er nothing really. Kids. You know what they're like." He chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck.
"OK."
She'd bought it for now.

A week had passed and Merida was thoroughly enjoying hanging around the children and expressing her passions of music. Meanwhile, Hiccup's admiration for her only grew.
The head teacher of the academy, Mr.Black, had requested he and Merida to organise a school music event involving a school choir, band and multiple solo acts.
The two musicians were rather excited for the event and went home thinking of all the songs they could present to the children for rehearsals.
The next Day, Hiccup entered the music block to the light strumming of a guitar. He saw the red head hunched over the strings as she played a beautiful melody. He leant against the door frame, admiring the emotion expressed through her playing.
As her tune faded it was immediately replaced by the sound of clapping. Her eyes looked up and locked with his. "Very good Miss.DunBroch."
She chuckled and looked down. "Thanks."
A heavy silence hung over them. "So." He began awkwardly. "Think of any song ideas for the event?"
Her electric blue eyes immediately lit up. "Yes!" She quickly composed herself and calmed down. "I thought of a few."
"Good, let's run through one of them. See what it sounds like." He smiled at her as he positioned himself in front of the piano.
Merida placed the music in front of him and sat beside him, guitar in hand.
Their fingers played the opening in perfect harmony as they ran through the song.
H: I'll swim and sail on savage seas
With never a fear of drowning
And gladly ride the waves of life
If you would marry me
No scorching sun nor freezing cold
Will stop me
If you will promise me your heartM: And love me for eternity
My dearest one, my darling dear
Your mighty words astound me
But I've no need for mighty deeds
When I feel your arms around meH: But I would bring you rings of gold
I'd even sing you poetry
And I would keep you from all harm
If you would stay beside meM: I have no use for rings of gold
I care not for your poetry
I only want your hand to holdH: I only want you near me
B: To love and kiss to sweetly hold
For the dancing and the dreaming
Through all life's sorrows
And delights
I'll keep your laugh inside me
I'll swim and sail a savage seas
With never a fear of drowning
I'd gladly ride the waves so white
And you will marry meThe chords faded as the two locked eyes.
"I think the choir would do very well at this one," Hiccup whispered.
"Yeah," Merida replied l, equally as hushed.
He felt himself turning the shade of scarlet as her ocean eyes stared into his forest green ones. "I could kiss you..." He looked away quickly. "I- I mean..."
A soft hand turned his face towards her. Their eyes locked once again. "Then do it." Her voice was a barely audible whisper. She glanced down fr a second and back up at him with a small smile.
"As you wish m'lady," She could feel his hot breath against her cheek. Her eyes blinked closed as his lips, hesitantly met hers. As she kissed back his body relaxed. In that moment they knew they'd enjoy this music event more than expected.
A/N Hey guys! So here's a very long one shot for you. I thought you deserved it after me being away for a while and extremely inactive. I hope you liked it! This one was based on my two music teachers (I ship them so bad!).
