I wish I could begin this with a voilà and say, “This is the final chapter,” but unfortunately for you... it’s not. I’m really sorry. I couldn’t work on the rest because it’s 3:00 a.m. here, and I’m just so sleepy right now.
Forgive me for making promises I couldn’t keep—I always think I’ll get everything done, but somehow, this always happens when I promise something. I truly didn’t mean to mislead anyone.
For now, I’ll quietly sneak away and let you guys read this part. I hope there are still a few people out there waiting to read it.

The city streets glistened under the night rain. Jimin barely registered any of it, his pace unhurried as he walked in the downpour with no umbrella to shield him. He had one in his bag—his body urged him to use it, to protect himself from the cold—but he didn’t. He wanted to, but his thoughts were too loud, louder than the rain. So he welcomed the dampness as cold droplets slipped down the back of his neck, soaking into the fabric of his top, not even making him flinch.
Anything but that.
The words that fell from Taehyung’s mouth kept repeating, again and again, his forehead pressed to Jimin’s—somehow more intimate than any kiss.
And then he had walked away.
Just like that, leaving Jimin alone to mull over what exactly those words had meant.
...
When the next day came, the world looked too bright despite the heavy rain the night before.
Jimin trudged into class, a headache pulsing behind his temples, his throat scratchy from the night’s walk and the sleepless tossing after. He entered expecting Taehyung’s usual lazy grin or a teasing flick to his forehead. Maybe a quiet, "You look like a drowned cat," before he began fussing and scolding Jimin for being careless with his health.
Instead, he found Taehyung already seated—not in his usual place beside Jimin, but by the window, alone, his gaze far away.
Taehyung glanced up as Jimin walked in. Their eyes met briefly, but nothing followed. There was no smile, no enthusiastic wave of his long limbs to beckon Jimin into his wild world of chaos.
Jimin hesitated at the lack of greeting, at the absence of expression on Taehyung's face. He wasn’t new to Taehyung’s apathetic moods, but this was the first time that blank expression was directed at him. And it hurt, though he had no right to complain.
He slowly took his seat, casting a side glance toward the window where Taehyung had turned again, leaning back in his chair with his hands deep in his pockets.
Jimin sat there, trying to brush off the odd ache blooming in his chest. Taehyung's unusual behavior stung. Sure, they’d fought before—ego clashes, silent battles, both too stubborn to end it. Compared to those times, this was nothing. He wanted to believe that. But he also knew he was stupid to compare this to the past, because there hadn’t even been a fight this time.
Maybe it was just the weather.
He rubbed his temple, groaning under his breath. The dull throb behind his eyes had only worsened since morning. Once class began, the professor’s voice became white noise as he stared at the empty margin of his notebook, glancing occasionally at the quiet boy he had known all his life.
