No, no, no this wasn't supposed to happen.
How did things end up like this?Where did everything go wrong?
When Jimin said he was waiting for the full moon to come, he thought his years-long wish of choosing a mate and standing next to his beloved will be the time he will be able to fully grasp the meaning of a forever.
A simp for any sorts of love that is offered to him, Jimin was waiting all his teen life to experience such loving and meaningful interactions, to start building a life around the person who he will swear to cherish until the day he breathes his last.
He dreamed of an eternity in the arms of his lover who would wrap around him like a blanket, shielding him from sadness, anger, or the hardships in return for the everlasting love he will promise to his dearest at the altar.
Jimin decided to wear a pink hanbok to the event, hearing Jungkook was going with a red one. He had it all ready. Yet, how could everything spiral out of his control this terribly?
The full moon day. The mating ceremony. Jungkook. Was it too much of him to wish for his happy ending? Was he selfish for hoping for a mate? For a life where he could grow old with the person he loves?
Jimin didn't know his life, his dreams were going to turn over faster than it takes for him to blink when he woke up on the day of the full moon, elated, excited to the point of dizziness because this was the day he was waiting for.
Today was the day he would choose his mate. Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook.
In the previous days, Jimin was sure he made some progress in interacting with the bunny. He had gained control over maintaining his composure in front of the rabbit who had his heart beating fast, who smiled at him warmly. It was almost impossible for Jimin to imagine he could pass his future without Jungkook's smile or the keeper of it in his life.
He no longer stammered over his words, tried to hold eye contact, compared to the times he couldn't stop looking at the other without averting his gaze. His cheeks were on fire, his face looked so close to a ripe tomato, but Jimin managed not to give away how utterly gone he was for Jungkook in all those short interactions he got a chance to share with the hybrid.
Jimin thought his dreams were finally going to get fulfilled today.
Ironically, it did. Out of his wish for a mate and a happy love life, one surely got accomplished. His longing for a mate.
And today marks the day his love life will descend until it hits rock bottom. Because, there from the corner of his eyes, Jimin can still see Namjoon's hand holding Jungkook close by the bunny's waist.
The unexpected development in Jimin's story is that even when a shy, pink sparkly eyed Jungkook chose a deeply affected, nervous wreck Namjoon as his mate to his and everyone's surprise, Jimin too got picked by someone.
'At least you still aren't mate-less', his inner monologue sniped as Jimin tried with all his might to hold the tears that were getting very hard to keep at bay. There is no going back if he starts crying here. Their pack's common meeting ground is filled with all those who came to attend the function—elders, parents, children's, mates—you name it. And they all are going to witness Jimin ugly crying because the dam is so close to breaking.
