The Void Duelist

Chapter 1 - Admission

Aria's POV

Today was the day.

The day that new duelists could try out/ audition for a place at the famous Duelist Academy. One of the most elite duelling school in the world.

The actual school is located on an island, but to get actually get to enrolled there you have to prove yourself worthy. As such, students from around the whole country would try out for their chance to get a place. How does one secure their place at such a prestigious academy?

By dueling the schools teachers. If the faculty deem you to have good enough potential, then you would be rewarded admission.

And that's exactly what I planned to do too.

I was sat in the stands, watching all the other candidates duel some of the best teachers they had. So far the teacher wearing the long blue coat, that looked somewhat like a woman, seemed to be the strongest. They'd beaten nearly every duelist they'd fought. Only one or two had managed to actually defeat them, but they were both very close calls.

Just then the playing field, that this so called professor was on, faded away. Yet another opponent defeated. Then a voice from the speakers echoed.

"Please can Miss. Aria Streak come down and duel Prof.Crowler for their chance to get a place at the duelist academy." It was the voice of the head master.

I calmly got up and made my way down to the field.

"I've seen you watching from up in those stands. Don't be too nervous about how strong I am." He taunted. "How's about I go easy on you?"

"If you do that it wouldn't be fair. Give me all you have, only then will I be able to beat you with dignity." I replied.

His face curled up into a scowl before we began the match.

"Ladies first." he insisted.

Just as I finished drawing my cards a boy with odd hair and wearing red ran up to our field.

"Hey there Mr.Crowler" he smiled sheepishly.

"What do you want Jaden, I'm about to start a duel." the professor complained.

So his name is Jaden.

"I know. Mr.Sheppard told me I could empire your match."

"You mean you begged him into agreeing."

"He said it could be a good learning experience and help encourage the opponent, in case they get a bit nervous."

"Well I don't need any cheering on. I'm fine." I stated. "Now are we gonna duel or not?"

"Go ahead then. Jaden you better stay quiet." Prof.Crowler sighed.

"Yes sir!" He replied, before sitting down on the floor like a child.

I scanned my hand. I had already drawn a polymerisation, a monster re-born, a trap card and 3 monster cards. 2 of which were my void monsters. Only 2 of the many I have. I placed down my trap card and set down my normal monster card.

Guess lucks with me today. This shouldn't take too long.

"I place down my dark pixie in attack mode" I announced. "And now I'll activate her special ability which allows me to deal damage to you, even though it's the first turn."

The prof gave a look of surprise while Jaden grew a small smile.

"Now go my pixie. Attack with your dark dust"
