Not Just a Crush

Chapter 13

Ross' POV;

"Rydel, what did you do?!" I screamed. She paced back and forth while her heels clicked. She suddenly stops and looks at me.

"I want Ell to like me!" She said. Laura sighed and stood up, "But this isn't the way, Del!"

I nod agreeing, "Yea, you can't change yourself because of a boy." She bit her lip sadly and walked to the door.

"Too bad. This is me now and you can't change me. Get use to it." She demanded before she left us without saying another word.

I sighed, "Laur, she looks like a clown!"

She scoffs and hits my chest. "Don't you think I know that?!" I can't let Rydel make a fool of herself in front of Ellington! She is a mess! She put a lot of make-up in her face, and she always refused to use make-up because she believed in natural beauty.

Her hair is longer and straighter and she got bangs. Her hair is up in a messy big bun.. And her clothes are just.. Fancy, which is not her style.

Her heels are like 5 inches, which make her stumble a lot. Not to be rude or anything, but she looks like she just got back from the 80's.

"We have to fix her before she embarrass herself!" Laura screams, running out the door.

I follow her and saw that Rydel was heading to Ell's dorm. "RYDEL!" Laura tackles her and she falls down.

She groans and I awkwardly helped her up. "Rydel, this is not you! Stop trying to be someone you're not." I strictly said.

She rolled her eyes, "You aren't my dad, so stop telling me what to do!" She stomped her foot, making her stumble a little because she was wearing high heels.

And god dang, this girl turned sassy!

"Del, he's right. Stop this! You don't need make-up and some heels to get a boy. You need yourself to get a boy. He doesn't and won't like you like this. But he does and will like you like you were before. Trust me.." Laura said, rubbing her shoulder up and down.

Rydel pushed her hand away and pursed her lips. She walked away, knocking on Ratliff's door.

I shut my eyes and sigh.

I heard a scream and a thud and I roll my eyes knowing it was Ratliff. I grab Laura's hand and enter Ratliff's dorm with Rydel.

"Rydel? What have you done to yourself?" Ratliff asked while making a face. Laura's grip tightened on my hand and I knew this wasn't going to end well.

"I did this so you'll like me back.." Rydel smiled at him, but he didn't smile back. I felt bad for her, but she wouldn't listen to me...

Ratliff gave me a look from behind her and I sadly shrugged.

He looked at her and grabbed her shoulders. "Rydel... I just don't like you back..." I look down, not wanting to see Rydel's face.

I knew Ell was awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.. He always does that when he's nervous.

"I mean, you're a great girl and all. But I just don't see you that way... I'm sorry...." He explained.

I look back up and see Rydel's lip quivering. He let go of her shoulders and she ran away.

Ratliff opened his mouth to speak but I just ran after Rydel. I wasn't mad at him or anything. I understand how he feels. I felt that with Laura.. It's like Rydel's Laura and Ratliff's me.. They are living our story.... In a way...

I walk to Rydel's room and knock. Raini opens the door, "Hey Ross. She's crying badly.. What happened?"

I sigh, "She found out Ratliff doesn't like her back." Raini gasps and raises her eyebrows. She motioned me to come in and I did.

Rydel looks up and she looked worse. Her make-up was all black and smudged. Her hair was tangled in a very messy ponytail. Her heels were broke and her clothes were still horrible.

I hugged her and I knew her make-up had gotten to my shirt. Yea, I did care a little, but a friend is more important.

I swear, it feels like sometimes Rydel is like a sister. People say we look alike, I agree and I know she does too.

I mean, we do act like siblings and we protect eachother. And yes, I do sometimes get a little overprotective with her, but I don't like her that way.

My heart is only meant for Laura, no one else.

We stay in that position for a few minutes, silence filling the air, until she spoke up. "I feel stupid..."

I shake my head, "You're not."

She pulls away and looks at me, "I should've listened to you! I feel so stupid!" She yelled at herself.

She then glares at the ground, "This is all Laura's fault.." She mumbles. I furrow my eyebrows, "How is it Laura's?"

"She's the one who told Ratliff!"

I shake my head, "But it's still not her fault.."

"YES IT IS!" She yelled at me. "NO IT ISN'T! Look who's talking! The one that told me in High School that Laura had a crush on me! She was angry at you for that because my whole class knew about it! But look at what she did, she forgave you. Why can't you do the same? It was just one mistake she did.. Right now, she's trying to get Ratliff to change his mind about you, what a good friend, aye? But in High School, when I didn't even like Laura, you never tried changing my mind! But look where it got me and Laura. We're dating! So you should suck it up and deal with it! Everybody's scared of anything! And you are scared of rejection, and you just got rejected by your crush. Laura did too.. So don't come saying it's all her fault because you did the same to her!" I yelled at her which made her shut up.

I scoff as I open the door. I see Laura standing there with tears in her eyes. I quickly close the door and open my arms.

"Come here."

She's been gone for 2 days anyways, ugh. Her internet is my enemy..

ANYWAY! Ross stood up for his girl and I'm ashamed because I play Rydel 😭 But of course, only the first book was real not this one. I made this second book up.. So..
