here's a lil sneaky peaky:
Gabriel Kishimoto, Six Years Old
"Alright, Class. We've got a new student today. Go ahead and tell us your name and where you're coming from" The teacher lady puts her hand on my shoulder, and I quickly move away from her touch, narrowing my eyes at her and looking back at the class.
"I'm Gabe. Just Gabe." I say firmly, crossing my arms as I look at the other kids.
They're all small.
I'm not that small.
They're probably stupid kids that don't know anything. That's what Mom said the Americans were like and I believe her.
I miss Mom.
"I moved here from Texas." I then add, my eyes straying on a group of three boys sitting near the back, one empty seat left at their table. They're all staring right back at me, their own eyes narrowed judgmental just like mine are.
"That's nice, Gabe." The teacher says too sweetly. "Why don't you sit at our red table? Brody, would you raise your hand to help out of new friend?"
I watch as one of the boys raises his hand, and I uncross my arms and walk through the other tables. I set my backpack down underneath my chair like everyone else has, before sitting down at the table and looking around.
"I'm Gabe." I state confidently, and they all stare at me. "What are your names?"
They all look at each other, before back at me.
"I'm Christopher." The one with blonde hair says, his green eyes somewhat unnarrowed as he watches me. "Why did you move here?"
"Nunya." I shoot back quickly, looking at the next guy. He has dark hair, and bright blue eyes that make me pretty freaking uncomfortable because of how he stares at me.
Can he see through me, or something? Is he crazy?
He looks crazy.
"I'm Mason." He mutters, before looking away from me. I look at the last guy, the only one who has completely unnarrowed his eyes. He gives me a smile, holding his hand out for a handshake.
"I'm Brody. It's nice to meet you, Gabe."
I stare at his hand before holding my own out, shaking it slowly.
"Same, dude." I nod. "Are you guys all friends?" I ask them, receiving a nod from Brody and Chris but nothing from Mason.
Okay, butthole. Nobody probably likes him, anyway.
I don't like him, anyway.
"Do you have any friends?" Brody asks me curiously, and I scoff.
"It's my first day, how would I have any friends?" I ask back, and he laughs and nods.
"Right." He nods quickly. "You can be our friend." He assures me, and I roll my eyes dramatically.
