Obiwan spoke first wind blowing his cape behind him.
In the ashy plains of the planets darkness he could've been one of the sith, if it were not for his light hair and light eyes.
"Padme... this is an inquisitor"
The words symboled something she could not bear to grasp. Hope.
Glaring at the body as if it were a disease she muttered, "where is his lightsabre then?"
If this was a warrior of the empire... she felt nausea. Especially as the snake skin of the dead force wielder seemed to hollow out before them.
Whatever the reason for his death, she was at fault. Whether it was because Anakin had turned to the dark or was still on their side... it didn't matter.
This life had been lost, good or bad. And it was in direct correlation to her actions.
It was because of what she had done.
Or more accurately.... what she couldn't do anymore.
Her question had seemed to silence them all. She felt Ahoska and Obiwan eyes on her, assessing her for the smallest reaction as if she were about to break at the sight of Anakins actions.
It was Ahsoka who finally responded.
"Anakin took it."
The words branded Padme and she turned, taking in the planet around her.
It shone in a red hue, steam rising from the lava that flowed down its coarse black plains.
It was a planet of nightmares. The warm wind seemed to burn her skin as she whispered to the two Jedi's infront of her.
"Well what does that mean? Why did he take it?"
She hid her hands in her pockets as they began to tremble. Jedi's did not take the lightsabers of their fallen opponents.
Unless he was expecting to battle more of his enemies....
She tried to rationalise his actions in her head. Anakin never followed the rules anyways- no.. she stopped the thoughts... she would not allow herself to hope.
Obiwans words were grave as he spoke.
"I don't know"
Tears of frustration welled in Padres eyes as lava exploded upwards behind her, she looked like the Queen of the planet in that moment, her dark body suit shining in the red light of the planets lava.
If the situation had been anything else. If it had been anyone other than Anakin in this position she would trust herself to make the right call as to whether he was lost or not.
But she didn't trust herself. Not with this. So instead she asked the two force wielders by her side. Knowing, they were as prejudice as her in what they wanted to be true.
"What does the force say?"
Ashoka shifted her footing her gaze on the red horizon as she whispered.
"The force is silent."
Padme didn't know what that meant. But from Ashoka and Obiwan expression she knew it wasn't good.
If the force was silent was it hiding a horrible truth? Or did it.. like them, simply not know if Vader was back.
