Clouds of misery hung over the carouse dessert sand. What should have reflected red in endless waves of heat, now looked like a mudish brown as a rare rain cloud hung over head like a cat ready to pounce. Ashoka, her eyes closed, attempted to focus on anything but the seemingly impending rain. It felt like a bad omen. Even more than the fact that she seemed to not be able to connect to the force. It flowed in her veins as easily as oxygen entered her lungs. And yet today, it droned like a buzzing background noise when she tried to mediate. Tried to connect with it to put herself in a force wielders clam. It was the scrunch of heavy boots crushing sand that altered her of Lux's presence. Not the force which might as well have just been liquid in her body. She sighed, ignoring the incoming man and forcing her eyelids to remain shut. Darkness ate her vision, today the force did not guide her to see images, feel emotions, know things. It was infuriating, and to show that emotion would not be the Jedi way. Luckily she was no Jedi.
She felt him sit next to her rather than hear him. The warmth of his breath did cause goose pumps yet she chose to ignore it, ignore him.
She sat there, pretending to meditate, knowing that actually doing it would be futile, until even talking to Lux sounded more fun than the constant darkness.
The world was hazy as she opened her eyes, allowing the darkening clouds above her to focus, their rumbles doing little to ease her nerves.
"Ashoka."
She ignored him, stood and turned as if he had not spoken, as if he was not there.
It had been the plan to continue ignoring him until his hand grabbed hers, the harsh calluses causing her heart to throb.
Frowning, Ashoka pulled her away. She should not be reacting like this. More importantly he should not be touching her.
"I don't understand." He sounded lost, as she continued to be turned from him, harsh winds blowing her short skirt behind her.
She didn't understand either. She had no reason to feel this way. To be upset. And yet she was. To a degree where she could not ignore it.
Taking a step forward she intend to leave him stranded in the gloomy dessert but he spoke again, his voice cracking.
"I thought you would appreciate me tricking Padmé and Anakin into sharing one room."
Despite the planet worth of weight that chained her heart. Ashoka smiled. Not that he could see it.
She would not admit it but she throughly enjoyed his rouse.
"I'm not mad about that"
It was the first time she has spoken to him today. She knew Lux cherished it as he remained silent, as if she were a scared animal. Before prodding.
"Then why did we go from laughing and recollecting from one second to you.. distant the next."
The force seemed to awaken a little in her blood as she considered telling him the knots of feelings overflowing within her. But it was dumb and stupid. She was dumb and stupid.
Instead, she used that tendril the force had granted her to know that she would be needed soon by Obiwan.
"You're a big boy Lux. I'm sure if you use your brain you can figure it out."
With that she left. She could feel his gaze sear her from behind like a brand. Acted as if it meant nothing to her as she continued, despite the constant weight being added to every step she took further from his shocked face.
She was being irrational, but he was being clueless. Just like how she had been around him when she had been Anakin's Padawan.
It wouldn't matter. He would put two and two together soon, and when he did she hoped she wasn't there. Despite the fact that they would surely be in close quarters all day.
