The gruesome war against Akatsuki and all the shinobi nations, that took many lives, on both sides, has finally ended. Madara and Obito is dead thanks to the revived hokages and the sudden change of heart of none other than Uchiha Sasuke.
Team 7 are all sprawled on the ground, all sweaty and clothes bloody, trying to catch their breaths. You could feel their exhaustion but not without the contentment that everything's finally over.
Naruto was the first to break the silence, "Teme, that was one hell of a fight. I'm glad you were on our side."
Sasuke could tell that the blonde was grinning and all he could think of was how he didn't deserve it, he didn't deserve this type of treatment, not after everything he had done. He felt guilty and ashamed.
As if she can read her mind, Sakura, who was unlikely quiet all throughout the war, still unbelieving that Sasuke's finally back, quietly said, "You deserve this, you know. If not, at least Naruto does."
Sasuke snapped his head to where she was, onyx orbs glaring daggers but when one should look, he/she would see the frustration within, "I tried to kill him. I tried to kill you, twice.", he spat.
She could feel his eyes on her but she didn't look back. She just smiled softly and said, "I tried to kill you too."
His anger suddenly died down and he just stared at her, unable to answer.
Naruto, who was listening couldn't help but butt in, "You're here, with us, after so long. That's what matters now."
