"Marry me,"
It’s been six months since the end of the war. Team 7 was officially reinstated. Sasuke was imprisoned for three months and a year of only D-ranked missions.
Six months later, just right after a team seven dinner, as they were walking on the park, he stopped. She turned around and looked at him questioningly.
He sorta, kinda proposed.
She didn’t even consider it. “No."
He was shocked. “Why not?"
She didn’t even flinch. She just stared at him.
Sasuke’s anger grew. He glared at her. "After the war, you told me you still love me."
"Do you love me back?"
He froze.
She smiled. “See? I love you but I don’t want to marry you. At least, not until you love me in return. That’s selfish of me. But I think, if I’m going to spend the rest of my life with someone, I should at least deserve that."
He looked down, not saying anything.
"It’s okay, Sasuke-kun. I can wait. I’ve waited for a long time. Why not a little more?" She’s still smiling, he knew.
He couldn’t breathe. He felt like something was weighing down on his chest. He finally met her gaze. And he was right, she’s still beaming at him, as if he deserved it. And the bastard he was, he was going to be selfish and take her word that she would wait.
"I’m getting there." If I’m not already.
