prompt: losing hope
AN: I can't believe that this would be my first sasusaku prompt for 2014 since December 31st. Sorry guys! This wouldn't compensate for my more than three month absence but still. This one came from me moping about my feelings.

Haruno Sakura never stopped loving Uchiha Sasuke.
Throughout the years the he was gone, she never once looked at anyone else. It’s always him.
She even used his absence as a way to develop into a kunoichi that doesn’t rely on anyone; someone that is independent and can be relied on.
However, there are those days when her feelings for him falter—don’t get her wrong but loving someone for so long without the other loving you back or in her case, just him not being there can take a toll on someone.
When she was younger, she thought that her feelings would be returned if she just worked hard enough. Things changed though and she already stopped hoping.
She stopped hoping for fairy tales and clichés and happy endings. She wasn’t a princess that faced a lot of tragedies but would still get her prince in the end. Sasuke wasn’t even a prince. He’s just a broken boy with a dark past and a vengeful heart.
She stopped hoping that her unrequited love would someday be returned.
Perhaps it’s for the best to find someone who deserves her love more than he does. Someone who would love her the way she deserves to be loved. That can wait, though.
She is Haruno Sakura and she might never stop loving Uchiha Sasuke but not hoping for the impossible would probably be the best to stop hurting—or at least lessen it.
