Chapter 38

"Shikamaru!" 

"Not again. " I was body slammed into the ground,"...Ow. Troublesome." I groaned,"Do you have to do this every time I come back from a mission?"

"Yes, I do." He hugged himself to my chest, spikes of hair tickling chin,one of my temporary teammates stifled a chuckle and the other flat out laughed.

"Is he the troublesome friend you were talking about, Nara?"

"Yes." I sighed,"Get of me, please."

He rolled off me and stood, holding a hand out to help me stand.

"That was a great mission, Nara." my group leader smiled,"I'll turn in the mission report alone so you and your friend can go."

"Thanks a lot, man!" Naruto gave him a grin and started to drag me along,"I haven't seen you in forever! You wanna go eat? Ichiraku gave me a free meal ticket since it was their anniversary. Or do you-"

"Naruto." I cut him off,"I'm sorry but I'm tired and just want to rest for now. Can we just hang out at my house?"

"Yeah."

Naruto always waits at the gates for me whenever I return from a mission. Even if it's raining he'll stand out their. If he's lucky it'll be a gate Izumo and Kotetsu are stationed at and they'll let him hang out with them. Naruto always wants to be with me. He becomes very clingy at times but I don't hold it against him. The loss of Sasuke hit him hard and he's been on village arrest for about three years because of some bullshit classified ordeal.

He can't go on missions but he's still a ninja...and permanently Genin. Naruto does all kinds of jobs to keep himself busy. He delivers for Ichiraku, gate keeper with Isumo and Kotetsu, at the blacksmith's, teaches at the academy, etc.

Naruto still receives bad look from people, but ask every kid in the village if they like Naruto they'll all say yes...I sometimes wonder if Naruto will be okay if he never leaves the village again or achieves his childhood dream of becoming Hokage. But, sadly, I have to think about things deemed more important than Naruto's well being. The other hidden villages have started to gang together and several attacks have been made against Sand and other main hidden villages. Anbu have even uncovered plans some villages have made to kidnap clan children for their bloodlines.

If this continues we may have war.

"Yes, Nao?"

"Where are we going?"

"On vacation."

"I know, but where?"

"Somewhere with things at reasonable and bargainable prices."

I sighed and looked towards my daddy,"Has Papa ever done something without thinking of the price?"

He laughed,"Probably not."

"Since Papa won't tell me where we're going will you Daddy?"

"No, Nao. It will ruin the surprise." He smiled.

I groaned and slumped back into my seat. Blowing at my bangs. I wish Dei-Dei or Auntie Konan was here. At least they would play.

"Kakuzu." Daddy called Papa's name.

"Yes, Hidan?"

"Our princess has become bored."

"Yes she has!" I agreed.

"We're nearing a village soon so we can stop there for a while." Papa said.
