"There has to be more to this dress," Rebekah called out from inside the changing room

"There has to be more to this dress," Rebekah called out from inside the changing room.

"There's not," Klaus informed her, his voice grumpy and almost as short as his temper. Lyn rolled her eyes at him and Stefan, who were both sipping on the champagne that they had been offered. It was ridiculous how high end this shop was.

Rebekah had been stuck in her flapper dress until they got back to the hotel, where Lyn had offered her some of her clothes. It wasn't like she hated Lyn's sense of style, but the blonde had insisted on getting her own clothes first thing in the morning. So, naturally, she had dragged the other three to the fanciest shopping district in the entire city.

Stefan and Klaus had reluctantly settled into chairs outside of the dressing rooms and began trying to get themselves drunk enough on champagne to forget that they were here. It was safe to say that they were not the kind of men who willingly went shopping.

Lyn had taken to browsing the racks. Partially to help Rebekah find something that would suit her taste and partially to imagine what they would look like on her. Her parents had definitely been wealthy, her dad being a doctor with an inheritance in a small town full of judgy neighbors. Lyn was eternally grateful for the fact that she had been given such a good hand from the start. But even then, this store was way out of her price range.

Rebekah pulled back the curtain to the dressing room and walked out. She was in a short black dress that, while it made her look excellent, she was obviously displeased with. "So women in the 21st century dress like prostitutes? You know I got dirty looks for wearing trousers."

"You wore trousers so women today could wear nothing." Lyn rolled her eyes at Klaus's comment; she detested when men commented on women's style choices. Women had come a long way to be able to wear clothes like the ones Rebekah was trying on and Lyn thought that was something to be proud of, not ashamed of.

"And what is this music? It sounds like a cable car accident."

"It's dance music," Stefan informed her.

"People dance to this?" Rebekah asked in disbelief, sounding offended at the mere idea.

"You'll enjoy it more when I take you out partying," Lyn said with a smirk, pushing some more clothes across the rack. "The 21st century can be fun if you live it right."

Rebekah grinned mischievously at Lyn's idea of the two girls partying. Lyn already had places in mind to take Rebekah. She needed a night away from Klaus and what better way than to introduce her new friend to the night life of the 21st century. "Are we done?" Klaus asked, annoyed about the shopping and the necklace, not to mention the trouble he could no doubt predict his sister getting into with Lyn.

"And why are you so grumpy?" Rebekah asked, strutting closer to her brother.

Klaus sighed. "I needed one thing from you for my witch to find out why my hybrids are dying, one thing. Your necklace. And you lost it."
