Lyn had always known that there were multiple sides to every story. That everyone has their reasons for acting in ways that others would call horrific. That didn't excuse any of those acts, but it helped to humanize the perpetrator.

Some people, like Elena, could not see both sides of the story. No, that was wrong. Elena could see both sides of the story perfectly fine when she chose to. In the case of Stefan and Damon, she saw their pain and humanity just as much, if not more, than she saw their cruelty. But it was becoming more and more apparent to Lyn that that was a privilege she reserved for very few.

Apparently, it didn't extend to her. So, she had left the house as early as was reasonable for a girl her age to be out and about around the town. She didn't want to see her sister and hear whatever poor reasoning she had for her actions.

Instead she sat at a cafe in the town square and began to look into colleges. She had picked out the ones she felt best about and was already filling out her applications. The sun had long since rose into the morning sky and brightened the town.

It wasn't until later in the day and a whole lot of writing later that Lyn was finally pulled away from her work. "Lyn!" the doppelganger turned her head at the sound of Caroline's excited voice. The blonde was hurrying toward her with Bonnie hot on her tail. Lyn smiled and closed her computer, turning to look at her friends.

"Hey, guys," Lyn said, standing up.

Caroline wrapped Lyn in a hug as soon as she was close enough. "I am so so so sorry!" she expressed. "I wanted to tell you about the plan but then Elena said it was a bad and idea and I started thinking about Tyler and–"

"Caroline, breathe," Lyn reminded her. She squeezed her friend's shoulders in reassurance. "I know. I forgive you."

Caroline exhaled and nodded. Lyn looked at Bonnie next, who she hadn't properly interacted with since returning to Mystic Falls. "Welcome back, Lyn." Bonnie said, smiling warmly.

"I missed you," Lyn told her, moving to hug Bonnie too. The witch returned her hug quickly and the three girls went and started to hang up lanterns. While they did so, Caroline and Bonnie filled Lyn in on the ghost situation that was going on.

"So, when you did the spell to send Vicki away, did that get rid of Anna, too?" Caroline asked, steadying the ladder that Bonnie was standing on.

"I wish." Bonnie said with a soft scoff. "All I did was block the magic that was helping Vicki get a physical foothold here. Jeremy's still got a direct line to the other side, and as long as he wants to see Anna and she wants to see him, she's still here,"

Lyn shook her head. She loved her brother but she knew that he had to let go of Anna. "okay, you don't actually think I can resist commenting on that," Caroline said,

"There, you commented." Bonnie said tiredly.

"Bonnie..."

"What do you want me to say, Caroline?" Bonnie asked. "I went against the balance of nature when I brought Jermey back to life, and now I'm paying the consequences."
