When Lyn rose from her bed the following morning, she felt even more exhausted than she had expected. She hadn't slept but she hadn't thought she would anyway.

The early morning light was only just peaking through the curtains as Lyn downed herself in hot water, hoping to wash away her worries. It didn't work. She wasn't entirely sure what would happen when she came face to face with her sister again. Not to mention when she saw Stefan again.

After everything they had been through together over the summer, all the ways she had tried to help him cling to his humanity, he had shut it off. Klaus had finally had enough of trying to sway Stefan over to his side through whatever charm the hybrid claimed to have. And so, after Lyn had been forcefully removed from the gym that night, Klaus had compelled Stefan to shut off his humanity.

Lyn had also heard that he had been compelled by Klaus to keep watch on her and Elena, now that it was revealed that their blood was the key to making hybrids. Klaus, after instructing Stefan to do so, had gotten out of town. Lyn didn't know why but she had a sinking suspicion that it had something to do with whatever Damon was surely planning.

But, somehow, she managed to shake those thoughts off, take the elixir to keep the dagger effects away, and get in her car. Mystic Falls looked the same as it did when she left all those months ago, and yet, nothing was the same. The thing that had changed the most in Mystic Falls, however, was Lyn.

Lyn ignored the stares coming her way when she entered the hallway. She had known that she couldn't just reappear after being gone the whole summer without rumors flying. But, compared to the pitying stares that had come the previous school year, after her parents had died, she could take rumours.

She was pulling open her locker when she heard a familiar voice call out to her. "Lyn! There you are,"

"Rebekah?" Lyn asked, surprised to see the original attending Mystic Falls High School. Rebekah looked immaculate, as always, and was staring at Lyn with a determined expression. "What are you doing here?"

"Going to school, what else would I be doing in a high school?" She said, like it was obvious.

"Fair enough," Lyn said with a shrug. "So, what does your schedule look like?"

Rebekah pulled out her schedule, fanning it to open it fully and handed it to Lyn. Lyn looked and saw that Rebekah had AP U.S. History third period, which was coming up next. Seeing as she already had her credits and then some, Lyn had arranged it with the school so she could sit in on some classes she'd already taken, so as to not do nothing. "Well?" Rebekah asked once Lyn had properly seen the schedule.

"AP US is next," Lyn said. "I'm going there, too"

"Excellent!" Rebekah declared. She offered Lyn her arm and the brunette happily looped arms with her friend.
