The next day, also known as the day the sacrifice would transpire, came all too quickly. That's how everyone, minus Lyn and Damon, found themselves in the library, listening to Elijah as he explained the curse.

"Tonight is the full moon," He told them as Damon made his way downstairs. "We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse."

"Lyn said that the sun and the moon curse is fake?" Stefan recalled. "That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus"

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. If he breaks it... he'll be a true hybrid." The thought of that did nothing to soothe anyone's nerves.

"Then why are we letting him break the curse?" Damon demanded, making his presence known. "We can kill him today. With Bonnie,"

"Damon..." Stefan warned.

"No, Bonnie can't use that much power without dying." Elena reminded him.

"I'll write her a great eulogy."

"It's not an option, Damon," Elena insisted.

"Alright, how do we break this curse?" Stefan finally asked, trying to break the tension in the room and get back to the topic at hand.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know." Elijah said.

"The moonstone."

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each." Elijah continued.

"And where do Lyn and I fit into it?" Elena asked, beginning to scan the room for her sister.

Elijah opened his mouth to answer her before it occurred to him that his soulmate wasn't there. He had initially assumed that she, already knowing what he was revealing to the others, would simply be catching up on sleep. But, now that he thought about it, it was odd that she was still in bed, considering her poor sleep habits. "The final part of the ritual," he explained, his mind still trying to figure out where Lyn was. "Klaus must drink the blood of a doppelganger to the point of their death."

Before any more could be said, Jenna's voice was heard throughout the house. "Get out!" They all rushed into the room where Jenna was currently pointing a crossbow at Alaric, who had his hands held up.

"Jenna, put the crossbow down, okay? It's me," he insisted.

"What's going on?" Elena asked as she, Stefan, Damon, and Elijah arrived at the scene.

"It's me, Elena, I swear, okay?" Alaric pushed. "He let me go. Klaus let me go,"

"Prove it," Damon demanded.

Alaric looked to Jenna as his brain scrambled for a memory. "Okay, uh, the first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in right when I was about to–"
