The pain didn't fade. It didn't get worse, not drastically at least, but it didn't fade one bit. She hadn't told Ric why she was missing their training session but she didn't want to make him worry. She also didn't want Elena to get wind of what was happening. Because if it got to Elena, it would get to Damon.
Lyn had never been one to care about the opinions of people she disliked. But somehow, Damon Salvatore had a special talent for getting under her skin. She didn't care that he didn't like her but she didn't like how he reduced her relationship with the Mikaelsons to her being a traitor.
If anyone was the traitor, it was him. They had been actual friends before the summer Klaus took her. And now, because of a connection to the people he didn't like, she was nothing but scum. Lyn had no problem being close with the Mikaelsons and with her friends from Mystic Falls. She wasn't the one drawing the line in the sand— he was.
But she had better things and better friends to worry about than Damon. Friends like Rebekah, who had recently been in the same room as her father willingly for the first time in centuries. "I hate him." The blonde exclaimed. "I hate Mikael and I hate Nik and—ugh!"
Lyn sighed from where she was sitting across from Rebekah. "Valid," She told her friend. "Your dad is a dick,"
Rebekah snorted. "Do you think I'm doing the right thing? Helping my father kill Niklaus?" Rebekah asked and here her voice grew vulnerable.
"I think that you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, Rebekah." Lyn told her. "But if I'm being honest, If I were you, I wouldn't help Mikael."
Rebekah's eyes widened but she wasn't offended. She was curious. "Why not?"
Lyn thought about how to phrase her words properly. "There's no good option for you. But if you put it into perspective, you have to think about more than one event to decide if you're going to help your abusive father kill your manipulative brother. And I'm saying that as someone who kinda likes said manipulative brother—don't tell him I said that," Lyn interjected.
"Your secret is safe with me," Rebekah promised in a soft voice.
"From what I've seen and heard about your family, a family that I'm coming to adore, you guys have a bad habit of hurting each other. But every time that one of you hurts another, somehow, you come back together. Because you love each other. Always and forever,"
Rebekah smiled softly, looking reminiscent at Lyn saying their family's vow. "You're too good for this family, Lyn. But I am glad we have you, nonetheless.

Lyn knocked lightly on the door to Bonnie's house, holding a package in her other hand. It took a few moments but the door opened and Lyn grinned upon sight of her friend. Bonnie smiled at Lyn, too, but her smile was more tired and resigned. "Hey, Lyn,"
"Hi, Bonnie. Can I come in?"
"Yeah," Bonnie said, allowing Lyn into her home.
Bonnie led Lyn into her room and Lyn placed the box next to her on the bed. Bonnie eyed it for a moment before sitting on the bed next to her friend. "Do you remember our eighth grade trip to D.C?"
