Lyn was a very logical person; it was practically part of her personality at this point. Theoretically, that meant that she should have been smart enough to know that when she was feeling as shitty as she was right now, she should not be up and about.

Klaus had taken her to the mansion he had purchased, and she had curled up to sleep. Right as she was climbing into the bed that was supposed to be for both her and Elijah, Klaus told her that she wouldn't have to sleep alone in it for long. He was going to get his siblings and pull the daggers from their hearts. That had soothed Lyn enough that she was able to fall asleep, though part of it was probably passing out from sheer exhaustion.

Unfortunately, Nik had returned hours later and told her, upon her waking up, that he had hit a snag. That snag came in the form of Stefan stealing the coffins from right under Klaus's nose. If she had the energy too, Lyn would have been seething in Stefan's direction. Even without the full energy, she was still furious.

So she was left feeling worse than she had felt in a very, very long time. But still, she put on her face and walked up the front steps to the Gilbert house, pretending as if there was not a weight pulling her deeper and deeper down with every minute she ignored it.

Because despite her IQ being weirdly high, Lyn was not good at slowing down when she knew she needed to. Lyn remembered, in the weeks after her being grounded due to the fight she'd had with her parents over early graduation, she had pushed herself harder than was even remotely healthy. She had stayed up until ungodly hours of the night studying for unimportant or nonexistent tests; and back then she actually had somewhat of a sleep schedule. She pushed herself harder in classes and read way ahead of where they were. She watched videos of college lecturers and read over dozens of thesis papers.

Lyn remembered that time period well, how she had worked herself harder than ever before. The problem was that, at least in this instance, Lyn was having a case of selective memory. Naturally, that meant that it conveniently slipped her mind how that phase of her working herself to the bone came to end. So when she recalled that time, she in no way thought of passing out in Bonnie's car and waking up in the hospital due to a high fever and dehydration. So, yes, she had complete confidence that she would be fine to ignore her body's lack of wellbeing and be out and about.

She turned then, sensing a presence behind her. Furrowing her brows, Lyn twisted her body around and found herself facing Tyler. "Hey, Lyn," he said, smiling slightly at her.

Lyn returned the half smile but still felt slightly weird about it. She and Tyler had definitely drifted since he had started down his road to becoming and embracing werewolfness. "Hi, Tyler. What're you doing here?"

"I'm hanging out with Jeremy today and he wanted to stop by home first," Tyler explained.

"Cool, I'm heading in, too." Lyn told him and gave him an apologetic look when she slid her key into the door without inviting him in. She trusted Nik with her life but she wasn't sure she'd trust him with the lives of her friends and family yet. He had to earn that trust and she needed to ensure he knew that her family was off limits. Lyn made a mental note to have a talk with him and entered the house.
