"School's almost over, your wedding is coming up. We're booked and busy." Laetitia closed the locker and circled a hand over her shoulders.
"But my fiancé is nowhere to be found." Astraea uttered out.
It was true. After the whole bombardement of their parents, she didn't see him as often as she would like.
"He's just busy and Jayden is well —"
"Jayden." Lae frowned her eyebrows.
Astraea sighed.
It's been two weeks. Jayden doesn't even attend school that often. Only when he picks her up.
"You're attending the party, tonight?" Lae asked.
"I don't know. Finals are coming up and I can't —"
"You're coming and that's the end of it." Laetitia spoke in between her sentence.
"Astraea."
That voice.
Both girls turned around looking at Volt.
"Hi." She smiled, nervously. Quickly doing a glance around her surroundings. Jayden was for sure not at school today, but it didn't hurt to make sure.
"Can I talk to you?" He approached her and it looked that there was something bothering him. It looked like he needed to vent something of his chest.
Astraea looked at Laetitia: "I'll catch up with you later."
When she left, it was quiet for a minute.
"How have you been?" He asked her.
The two of them walked to the cafeteria.
"Good. You?" She took a seat, while he followed.
"Great. I've just been accepted to play football."
He laughed nervously.
"Oh. That's great. That's lovely, awesome. Congratulations." She smiled.
Astraea was genuinely happy for him.
It was quiet for a while.
"I haven't forgotten about you." He looked at her with a defeated look.
"It feels like my hearts ripped from me." Volt chuckled.
Astraea felt bad.
"I'm sorry for making you feel that way. That I couldn't be the girl to love you, but I promise you, you'll find someone. You're really an awesome guy." She reciprocated a sad look.
He stood up, making her stand up.
"I really needed this talk." He smiled.
"I felt like if Jayden was here, this never could have happened, that's why I took this opportunity." He pulled an awkward laugh.
"I hope we can be friends?"
"I- Vo-" She started to say.
"I get it." He put both his hands in his pockets.
Then continued on saying: "I wouldn't want a gorgeous girl being friends with her ex either."
Volt sighed. He ran a hand through his hair.
"I don't understand it. You two. But I hope he takes care of you."
"He does." She immediately replied.
Some people didn't understand how she could be with someone like him. They didn't need to understand, cause she did.
"Can I at least give you a hug?"
Astraea leaned in, circling her hands down his waist.
He engulfed her in a hug too and breathed her scent in, one last time.
