Blood Must Have Blood

A/N: Another chapter, which is the start of the war. Hope you enjoy.

We were all camped much, much closer to the mountain. Grounders were even stationed just outside the bunker door.

I however was inside the Command tent, standing between Clarke and Lexa, with Anya on the other side of the Commander herself.

Lincoln was one of the grounders in the tent. On either side of him was Tris and Carl.

Lexa greets the few guards and Monroe who enter the tent. "Welcome, Sky Crew. Join us."

They glance around at the grounders in the tent.

I give them a reassuring nod.

Mr. Miller walks up, pulling something out of a bag. "A package from Raven. Hydrazine. She said it would do the job." He holds it towards Clarke.

"Good." She nods.

"And, uh, your mother wanted to be here, too."

"I know, but the wounded in Tondc need her more." Clarke doesn't meet his gaze.

Lexa notices this and changes subject. "Field commanders, today's the day we get our people back." The grounders all perk up and listen intently. "The enemy thinks it's safe behind its doors, but it's not. When it realizes that, it will fight back... hard."

"We need to be ready." Anya adds on. "You're all ordered to listen to the four of us." She refers to herself, Lexa, Clarke, and me.

Lexa turns her head at me, signaling it's my turn to talk.

"This is a rescue mission." I tell them. "We're not here to wipe them out completely. There's a lot of innocents in the mountain, ones that have helped us, children who have nothing to do with this war, people who go against your people being drained of blood, and go against my people's bone marrow to be taken out." I make sure they're all listening. "We kill their soldiers. Leave the leaders alive for us." I motion my head towards Lexa. "Our mission is to rescue our people. Is that clear?"

They all murmur lightly, all in agreement.

"Then let's start. Clarke." I step back.

The blonde steps forward, pointing at the diagram. "There are five teams. Two of them... at the dam and in the mine... are moving into position already."

The ones in the mine was Octavia, Indra, and some others in both our groups.

The ones at the dam was Raven, another technician, and a few guards with grounder archers as backup.

Clarke continues. "The third... inside the mountain... is freeing the Grounder prisoners as we speak." She refers to Bellamy and the caged grounders. "It is our job as the fourth team to keep the eyes of the enemy off of them for as long as possible. The fifth team are the long ranged, they're perched up at a vantage point ready to assist us."

The fifth team was highly skilled archers and grounders with spears, from experience we knew they were good. Then a few guards with good aim from rifles. Finally my dad and Slade with the snipers.

"To do that, we have to be in position here at the main door with our entire army." Clarke points at the diagram of the door. "The ountain men believe the door can't be opened from the outside, so they leave it unguarded. Only it can be, and thanks to our source on the inside, now we know how."

The woman glances at Carl who steps forwards. "Maya said the electromagnetic locking system has a flaw. When the power goes out, it'll shut off."

I chime in. "That's where Raven's team comes in. The mountain's electricity is powered by the dam. By now, they've taken the turbine room. It's their job to blow the power. Once they do, we blow the lock." I inform them. "There is a catch, a backup generator inside the mountain. If the lock is still functioning when that backup power kicks in, we'll never get that door open and we won't ever see our people again."
