I Miss You

Lindsey woke up from his nap to the shrill of his phone ringing beside him, he rolled over sleepily and looked at the screen, his heart jumped when he saw Stevie's name, after nothing for two weeks he took no time in answering

"Steph"

"Hey Linds"

"How are you?" He hated how formal they sounded

"Alright I suppose, you?"

"I'm about the same, just tired and stressed"

"Yeah I know the feeling"

"I miss you!" Lindsey said after a minuet of silence

"I miss you too so much!" He could hear her sniffling on the line, he knew she was crying

"Baby, don't cry, come on what have you been up to these past two weeks?" She needed to compose herself so she took a few moments to answer

"I went for the final scan..." She couldn't finish her sentence

"Wait, you what?"

"I went for the final scan" she repeated quietly

"Are you joking? You went to our babies final scan and I wasn't there?" He was so hurt

"Lindsey there's no way that Kristen would..." Again he interrupted

"I don't give a shit what Kristen would or wouldn't let me do, that's my baby and i missed one of the most important pre birth dates"

"Lindsey I'm so sorry I just don't want you in anymore trouble with her"

"Stevie I won't be with her for much longer, what's between you, our baby and myself is none of her concern what so ever"

"I know that now, I'm sorry, please forgive me" she begged

"Well I suppose it could have been worse, you could have found out the sex without me" he laughed joking, he was met with silence

"Stevie?" He heard sniffling

"Stevie, please tell me you didn't find out?" It was his turn to beg now

"Lindsey, he asked me and...and"

"And you could have said no Stevie, you could have told him that I couldn't make it but you didn't want to find out the sex until I was with you, we could have gone back..." Stevie's heart broke as she heard the sobs on the other end of the phone

"I just wanted to know, so I could paint the nursery"

"Another thing we should be doing together! Do you not want me to be a part of my babies life?"

"Lindsey how can you say that?"

"I can say that because you went to a final scan, found out whether you were having a son or a daughter and you painted the nursery, that really looks like your jumping at me being a part of this"

"Lindsey please?"

"Please what Stevie?" He was fuming

"Just here me out, I was just trying to do what was best"

"What by acting like a single mother?"

"Yes...no...I don't know Lindsey I'm confused, i just didn't want to be heartbroken when you left me to go back to her again" she told him truthfully

"Go back to her? You think I want her when she almost made you lose our baby? You think I want her when she abandoned her own children? You think I want her when I'm having everything that I should have had all along with you?" He once again was crying

"I didn't know what to think Lindsey, she..."

"Well you had better think long and hard then hadn't you Stevie?" She went to reply but he had hung up, Stevie tried to call him back but he wouldn't answer any of her calls, how could she have been so stupid as to do all that without him, she couldn't begin to understand how he was feeling about it, on top of what he was going through with his wife, Stevie was worried that she had just made the biggest mistake she could have, had she just caused herself to indeed be a single mother? She even thought her baby was sad because she had always felt A LOT of movement from the baby and it was getting less and less and she was worried

A few days later Lindsey was sitting in his studio, he had just come off the phone with his lawyers and he was due in court in a couple of days, he didn't know what he was fighting for anymore, Stevie obviously didn't want him to be a part of her life anymore, but how could he walk away from the love of his life and the mother of his unborn child

He had just sat back and closed his eyes when his phone rang again, he looked at the screen and it was once again Stevie, she hadn't called since that night and he didn't know why but he felt a need to answer

"Stevie?"

"Lindsey please come over I need you!" He could hear her panic and tears

"Why what's the matter" he asked worried he hung up and ran out the house after hearing the three words he was most terrified of

"It's the baby..."
