I will never forgive you

Stevie was still in the same position on the bed when she heard the front door open and close again, she watched with a tear stained face as he she heard him run up the stairs and walk through the bedroom door

“Where the hell did you go?” Stevie shouted at him as he approached her

“I’m sorry Stevie for just running out”

“Well? Where did you go? You’ve panicked me half to death”

Lindsey went into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small paper bag, he took out the item in the package and put it in her hand

“Go into the bathroom and take it!” he told her and she looked down at what was in her hand

Tears sprung to Stevie’s eyes as she was staring at the pregnancy test he had just rushed out of the house to buy

“Lindsey please...I know there isn’t anything there...please don’t make me do it!” she pleaded with him

“Stevie please just go and take it!”

“Why are you doing this to me? I know there is no baby, I don’t want to have to see the proof that I’m not strong enough to carry one” she was crying and he felt terrible, but they both needed this

“Stevie, get in the bathroom and take the test!” he was raising his voice and it was making her cry even more

“NO! WHY LINDSEY?” she shouted back

“I’ll explain after, I can’t tell you at this second please Stevie!” he said and pulled her up from the bed and practically dragged her to the bathroom

“I fucking hate you for this!” she spat out bitterly and slammed the bathroom door behind her

Lindsey waited and 5 minutes later Stevie came storming out of the bathroom tears running down her face, her eyes puffy from all she had cried this evening

“Well I’ve done it! I hope you’re happy!” she said and walked to the bedroom door and turned

“Wait where are you going? I need to tell you why I went and brought one! Please just wait”

“I’m going to another room for tonight, I don’t even want your explanation, I did it and it was negative, there’s no baby, but you go and check you’re fucking test and see how much of a failure I am, your an ass Lindsey” she said and slammed the door behind her

Lindsey hated how much pain he had just caused Stevie by making her do this, he walked into the bathroom and picked up her test that she had thrown in the bin, he looked down and the screen and closed his eyes as he let a tear fall from his eye

Lindsey went straight away to find Stevie, they had been in one of the spare bedrooms and she had gone back to his and was sitting cross legged on the bed crying when he knocked and walked in, she took one look at him and threw the glass of water by the side of the bed at him

“GO AWAY LINDSEY!”

“No!”

“Why not, you got what you wanted! I take it you’ve seen the NEGATIVE test as well, I told you about the phantom pregnancy because I was worried, I didn’t expect you to make me prove to myself that I was right, tell me does it make you feel good to make me feel stupid?” once again she was crying

“Step...” he tried

“No Lindsey let me finish! Do you have any idea what it’s like to know that you can’t do something and then have to have it shoved down your throat? I was absolutely heartbroken when you told me I had lost our baby, and even through it wasn’t my initial fault, I still felt it was, because I’m old Lindsey...I wasn’t strong enough to help our baby survive! It was my body they were in! And you just made me live that all over again!” she had walked over to him now

“Stevie...” he tried again but was rewarded with a hard slap across the face

“I will never forgive you for this!” she told him and turned to walk out the door once more, she stopped dead in her tracks when he spoke again

“You’re still pregnant Stevie!”
