Opening Night - September 2014
Stevie always loved doing Landslide on stage, it meant that she got to be close to Lindsey and it wouldn’t look strange to anyone because everyone knew that this is how they did this song every time and it wouldn’t ever be any different
When it came to the small pause she looked to her left to Lindsey and they did their usual ‘not yet’ faces and actions, she noticed then when she looked at him he didn’t quite meet her eyes and this gave her a very uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach
Last year’s Lovefest tour was perfect and she loved every minute of it and so did Lindsey, that was the tour that started off something between them again, for the whole of the tour they spent as much time together as they could, but then it finished and he had to go back to his family, she hadn’t really heard much of him in the past half a year, she felt a bit hurt and used at the same time, but when it came down to them she didn’t care as long as he was with her
When she came to the end of the song, she expected him to take her hand like he had last year, but all he did was quickly hold it, and then he walked off, she was stuck in stand still for a moment just watching him go, she finally then turned back to her mic and carried on as usual
The rest of the show went much the same, him barely looking her way, the lyrics he used to sing to her he now sang to the audience, and when it came to the encore Stevie felt like crying
She went to take Lindsey’s hand ready to go out, as she had done for years and he moved it away so she couldn’t, she felt slightly better that he put his arm around her but it wasn’t as good as holding his hand in hers
When they finished the encore songs and moved onto songbird and the bows Stevie was supposed to exit the stage to the right and Lindsey to the left, but instead of going right she followed Lindsey off his side
She tried to catch up and take his hand
“Linds wait up” he once again moved his hand away
“I need to get back to my dressing room Stevie” he told her abruptly
Stevie didn’t listen and followed him in to the room and closed the door behind her
“Stevie for goodness sake what did I just tell you?”
Stevie didn’t answer but quickly made her way over to him, he had his back to her and was messing around with something that was on the table, she wrapped her arms around his waist from behind and laid her head so that it was on his shoulder blade
“Lindsey, baby what’s the matter?” she asked rubbing the tip of her nose against his back
“Stevie please don’t call me that” he said sternly
“Why we always use that word with each other” she tried
“Yeah well that was before”
“Before what Linds? What’s the matter?” she was worried now
He turned around abruptly making her stumble backwards a bit
“Stevie nothing is the matter just please leave me alone” he asked, it’s not he didn’t want her around he really did, it’s just he knew he shouldn’t
Stevie still wasn’t listening to him and once again approached him; she put her hand against his face
“Lindsey come on”
He snapped now and grabbed the wrist that was attached to the hand on his face
“STEVIE, I SAID LEAVE, JUST GET OUT PLEASE NOW!” and he let go of her arm with a jerk and she stumbled backwards once more
“FINE, BUT I AM NOWHERE DONE WITH THIS!” she matched his shout
“Yeah well hasn’t that always been our problem Stevie, we never knew when to walk away from each other, and I am asking you, no I’m telling you to do it now! Walk away from me Stevie, don’t look back just go” he knew by looking at her face that every single word was killing her, and he hated himself for it, but it had to be said
“Lindsey why would you even say that to me?” she was treading on very thin ice now and she knew it
“Stevie, if you don’t get out of this room right now, I will call security on you” he hated that threat but if it was the only way to get her out
Stevie just stood there at this remark and then turned around and walked out slamming the door behind her
Lindsey couldn’t believe what he just did but it was the right thing to do, he picked up the glass that was on the side next to him and threw it against the door, the only thing he could think to himself was how it was possible to be so angry yet so upset at the same time, but he was and he hated it
Thanks for reading! I wanted to start another story, so I hope you liked the first part of this and please let me know whether it is one you want me to continue with? xo
