Lindsey raced over to Stevie's house as fast as his car would take him, he parked on the drive and got out the car, rushing across the gravel and up the steps to the door, knocking furiously waiting for an answer
"Steph?" He knocked once more and it opened
"Linds..." She flung herself at him and cried into his chest
"What's the matter with the baby? Are you bleeding? In pain? What Stephanie?" He could feel his own eyes well at the thought of losing his child
"The baby...isn't moving Lindsey, remember how much they used to? It slowed down and now it's stopped all together, even when I run my hand across it, nothing..." She began to cry, Lindsey looking worried because he indeed remembered how energetic the baby was
Lindsey stepped back and placed a hand on either side of her bump, a couple of seconds later he felt her stomach move from underneath his fingertips
"Oh my god..."Stevie almost collapsed with happiness
"I thought you said they wasn't moving?" Lindsey spoke with relief
"They obviously just wanted their daddy" Stevie said through tears, Lindsey got on his knees now and lifted the shirt up that Stevie was wearing kissing her belly and resting his cheek on it, he let himself cry now
"Don't ever do that to me again Steph you hear me?"
"I'm so sorry Lindsey, I just though something had happened, the last time I felt no movement..."
"This isn't last time baby, this is this time and you and the little one are okay!"
"I couldn't feel that loss again Lindsey" he shushed her before he too remembered what he had tried so hard to forget
"as you said yourself it's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all" they both took a second to remember and then shook them selfs from their memory
"Are you going home?" Stevie asked after a while, they were both still by the front door, Lindsey was in to much of a panic to close it
"Yeah now I know everything is okay" he once again sighed with relief
Stevie bent down to where he was still on his knees and closed her hand around his cheek, drawing his forehead to her own, whispering to him
"Stay baby. Please stay?" He opened his eyes and looked at her
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. After the scare we both just had we need each other now, well I know I need you"
Walking upstairs into the bedroom they both climbed into bed, Lindsey removing his clothes down to his boxers, once Stevie was in bed she lay on her back, Lindsey taking no time at all to cuddle into her
"I'm so sorry Stevie, I shouldn't have said all those things, please forgive me?"
"No" Lindsey was shocked by her answer
"But...?" She looked him in the eye
"I won't forgive you Lindsey, because there isn't anything to forgive, I thought long and hard and I realised that all that you said was true, I should know that you would never ever go back to her now, and that this right here" placing her hand on their baby "is all that we ever wanted, and I was stupid to risk that because I was insecure, I love you, I love you both so much" her words choked Lindsey up and he struggled to speak, so Stevie did again
"Don't say anything if you can't, I just wanted you to know how I felt" they smiled at each other
"I feel it too, I love you both to the ends of the earth"
As they kissed and lay down to sleep that night, nothing was to much for them to handle, they would make it through this and they would do it together, they drifted off to sleep, Lindsey's hand never leaving Stevie's stomach once, he was subconsciously keeping his child safe, and he would for the rest of his life
Thank you so much for the feedback on the previous chapter it's all appreciated so much! This was only a short update but I just wanted you to see that the baby was okay! Xo
