After Ned and Alice finished working through the beginning of class physics problems, the class moved onto some new questions as a group, the teacher orating the questions and picking from raised hands to answer them. She asked a question relating to a linear acceleration problem. Though Alice was starting to work through the concepts with Ned's help, she didn't raise her hand for fear of being wrong and to keep a low profile in this class which she shared with Parker. Instead, the teacher called on a student named Flash who proceeded to answer incorrectly.

Surprisingly, the teacher then called, "Peter! You still with us?"

The brunette boy's head shot up from his laptop. Alice subtly sat back in her seat, trying to catch sight of what had him preoccupied. She saw a bit of a YouTube tab as he closed the screen, swearing it was the one from the file she'd been through multiple times. It went viral after someone caught on video the Spiderman catching a moving car from hitting the side of a bus. She couldn't be sure as he closed the screen and proceeded to answer the teacher's question.

"Right! See, Flash, being the fastest isn't always the best if you are wrong," she said, making the class giggle lightly.

Alice saw Flash turn around towards Parker, mouthing, "You're dead."

Peter seemingly ignored him, only checking on the clock to see when they'd be able to get out of there. Alice had to sympathize with him. Though she liked being good at science for once, she was ready to leave.

Soon, her agony was temporarily ended as a couple of classes later, they broke for lunch for the day. She shared the class before with Betty, who kindly offered to escort her to the cafeteria and ensure she got to sit with her, Liz, and Vanessa as promised.

"Midtown cafeteria food is pretty hit or miss," Betty told her in that kindly clipped manner of speaking that was unique to her. Alice watched her carefully select a bowl of fruit from the lineup of options, picking the one with the most pineapple. Onwards down the line they went, collecting a slice of pizza soggy with grease and some dry breadsticks. "Once a week, Van brings us all fresh veggies and things from the garden, so don't bother bringing lunch money on Thursdays."

"Does Van spend a lot of time in the garden?" Alice asked, already feeling as though she knew the answer just from the girl's appearance that morning.

"Oh, every spare minute. The school has a community garden, too. It was falling apart when we got here for freshman year, but now it's thriving. I have no idea how she does it with all of her other extracurriculars."

Alice followed Betty towards a circle table in one corner of the room, looking across the cafeteria. "Is it always so crowded in here?"

"Fridays it thins out. Seniors are able to get lunch off-campus on Fridays. But because Liz is a senior, that means she brings enough food back for all of us. Even fast food is so much better than Midtown caf."
