Chapter 16 - Falling To Pieces

The next day we all decided to pack up and head out me and melissa were now madly in love with each other and we spent as much time as we could together and we really enjoyed it. We grabbed our stuff and put all of it in the car and I helped maddie,luke and caitlin pack the rest of the group were just walking up to get packed when we were finished. The remainder of the group helped the rest pack while the others kept an eye out for zombie activity across the roads and further along down the street. I grabbed melissa's hand and we sat next to eachother in the car smiling and talking to eachother every now and then giving eachother a peck on the lips and letting the motion glide before stopping to talk again eventually after awhile everybody was ready to go the car wheels spun off and we were now heading to the docks to get a boat to ride to the island which we would call our next home we winded the windows down and the summers air whistled past our faces I turned to melissa and smiled she imediately smiled back we all got into a deep conversation forgetting about the apocalypse and all of our troubles and worries because they all seemed like distant past memories they seemed unreal but we all knew it was we all just wanted to get to the safety of the island. We reached the docks the boat was about half a mile away from where we were we all screeched at the site of it knowing that we were going to be at the island anytime soon. We were nearly safe,we pulled up at the docks and got out the car, I went in first to check out the boat to see if the keys were still in the ignition and to my luck they were, I went back and reported to the group they grabbed all of the stuff off the back of the car and hauled it up on to the boat we all got on the boat which was a cruise ship I checked the ship for zombies and it was all clear and we turned the keys of the boat and we set sail to our new home. I went to the top of the deck with melissa peering out onto the sea view we looked at eachother this was the most romantic moment of the apocalypse we gazed into eachothers eyes and she stepped back. She tripped over one if the bags that had been left out and she fell over board. She was knocked out and could drown. "MELISSA NO!" I shout and I dive under the water as her body floats down to the bottom of the ocean I grab her lifeless body and bring her to the surface I climb back onto the deck and lay her body on the deck giving her cpr. "No melissa you can't leave me". I sniffle and then I burst out in tears at her lifeless body. "NO NO NO NO NOO!!!" I screamed and I began to have a mental break down I was so angry right now I cry over her body realising there's nothing I could do emma pulls me away and I try to shake her off and she takes me inside and I grab a bottle of beer and sit down on the deck drowning out my sorrows only wanting death to consume me how could I live without melissa.
