Blue Blood's Quarry

Two days. The next two days nothing appears to occur between the two. A pair of shadows very carefully retrieve the orb of mana and qi and take it back to the counsel so they can find out just what it is and whether or not it's dangerous. Other than that they weren't informed of how it was obtained or where it came from. Meanwhile Jack and Nyxia are helping with his own "issue" he had been neglecting. During training Jack was still experiencing defeat after defeat at the whip wrap. The qi siphoning usually happens at the end of the training day. The final test to see how he is going to do when a jiangshi actually manages to grab him.

Jack struggles to keep himself standing as his lifeforce is pulled out of his body with the same whip he's been fighting to escape without avail. He's found a way to slow it down but it isn't a real solution to the issue. Sylphchaser's attempts at getting him to activate his body enhancement automatically weren't very successful.

'Alright, if this is not going to work, time for a different strategy.' The instant that Jack starts to pull mana into the areas the whip is touching, Alhrana pulls away the whip. Unwrapping him without hesitation as he meanders closer to the buck.

"Not happening hare."

"Oh come on." Jack throws up his hands a bit. "I've got no other way to get out and this might be my only way to do it."

The elf ties up the whip while coming closer to him. "It could also kill you for nothing." He clasps his hands. "You have to get your life force to resist the pull. It isn't easy but you've been doing better than you did two days ago."

"So what AM I supposed to do. You keep telling me to resist the pull but I don't know how I'm supposed to do that. I try to harden my qi but it doesn't work. Can't hide it. I managed to compress it down to buy me time. The whip seems to take thin layers off of the compressed qi's outer layers but it isn't a solution, it just buys me time." Jack rubs his head. "I can't do anything more complex with it so it's not like I can send malignant qi into the whip to damage it."

"You mean like what the channeler did to you?"

"Yeah. It would probably be fatal to a jiangshi if I could get it to work. Then again it might do nothing, they might just eat it up all the same." He scoffs a bit before continuing. "I can't tell if it would work or not unless I do it but I can't." He shrugs. "So I'm stuck trying other methods."

Alhrana points at the bag sitting outside of the hut. "So those are a couple of "methods"?"

"Scattering coins in front of them, the sound of a handbell ringing, their reflections in a mirror are a couple of things that are said to work in order to distract or repel them but whether or not it's true is another story. I'm more worried about whether the damn things are occurring from a dungeon or if someone is going out of their way to make them. If it's the first one fair enough, find the dungeon, clear it, keep an eye on it but if it's the second we have an issue."

The elf blinks a couple times and shakes his head. "And why didn't you mention any of this before?"

"Well there's no way of knowing if it will work and the damn things run from anyone strong enough to fight them. I'd be sending innocent people to the slaughter. They are not slow either." Alhrana gives a nod with his brows raised. He heard that part from the other elves sent to track the creatures. That was the one real description that was consistent between all of them. "It's better to test it myself once I follow them back to wherever they are converging. I also hope that they aren't too old, otherwise we might have another problem."

"Well what kind of problem?"

Jack grabs a bucket that they have been using for water. "Well it's said when a jiangshi devours enough of a specific kind of qi they start gaining powers. Flight, enhanced strength, speed, durability. Then again according to the status screen a jiangshi was the closest equivalent so there is a real chance that all of this shit I'm telling you is completely wrong and useless." Draining a large amount of water from the bucket Jack drinks deeply as the elf digests this new information.
