Every day Jack would take what were basically classes from his mother Jullia, eat some fruits and veggies, then spend the rest of the day playing/training. Eating when he got hungry or when either his mother or his father Clay would ask him if he wanted something. He is slightly ashamed to admit he forgets to eat from time to time. The young buck was fortunate enough to see results from his exercises sooner than he expected.
He actually had to ask his father for heavier rocks to move around. Most of his playing involved lifting rocks, rolling them, and learning how to throw with this different body. It was similar enough to a human's that he didn't have to change up how he threw objects but he did notice he had trouble moving his arms straight upward. He wouldn't be doing any swinging from trees or rock climbing (or reaching a high shelf) anytime soon but he could still throw and catch.
From his mother's lessons Jack discovered that there were a LOT of fruits, veggies, nuts and berries that were edible around here. Some roots even acted as a mild narcotic while others acted as weak stimulants. Of course there were plenty of herbs and plants in the forest (Some of which were magical) but no one in the warren knew how to brew them into potions or anything like that. The most they could do was a mild healing paste that slightly sped up the healing of minor injuries. It has very real and very clear limitations but it is better than nothing.
Something else he learned was that evidently only his father had any sort of construction or building skills in the warren. So with that it made sense that the place looks the way it does. They were simply making use of what they could use with their current skill sets. No one knew carpentry, masonry, or proper construction. It seemed many monstrous races that had intelligence were heavily dependent on skills in order to learn building or crafting. Most didn't survive long enough to record or fully teach an apprentice with how dangerous it was. Only the tougher monsters with social skills manage that. Leoporcitae were not known to survive very long outside of the center of the forest.
Here they were on their own. They had no backers out here. Because this warren was technically still in the first few generations it didn't have access to a diverse amount of crafting or building knowledge. They figured out what worked for them and made the most of it.
And what worked was clay, mud, and sticks.
The young buck has been playing with Ova more often now. With how she followed him around and enjoyed playing games with him, the buck simply didn't have the heart to tell his little sister to leave him alone. Her favorite game was tag with her close second being rock rolling. Jack was keeping his own boredom under control though.
He wasn't a maniac, he could control his lack of ability to stand still... mostly.
The former human blamed TV and video games. Tack that on with a desire to make himself useful and he had a tendency of asking just about anyone if they needed any help or a snack almost constantly. Today was no different but everyone was fine. The restlessness was eating at him now. When he had nothing to do... it was better not to dwell on it.
He asked his father if he could use some flint. In fact that was what he asked the older buck a few seconds ago and he was looking at him like he grew a second head.
"What on Terra do you want that for? All it's good for is- um."
'I probably should have expected this.' Raising his hand he waits for his pop to give him permission to speak before doing so. "Yes I know it is used for weapons mostly. Truthfully that's what I intended to make out of it."
"W-why do you want to make a weapon?" The man shakes his head a bit before looking at him a bit more seriously.
"Mostly to see if I would be able to." Jack scratches the back of his head as he smiles up at his father. "I'm bored and need something to distract myself."
