I was woken up by the car moving back and forth, as though something was pushing on it repeatedly. I immediately jumped up, looking out the windows only to realize that we were surrounded by incurables. I crawled over everyone, trying my hardest not to hit or kick anyone, as I tried getting to the driver's seat. Once I was in the seat I put the keys into the ignition, the engine kept rolling but nothing happened. It wouldn't turn on. I soon started to panic.
"What's going on?" A soft voice asked from behind me.
"Uh, nothing. Go back to sleep." I tried to tell him, guess I wasn't too convincing.
"Harry, start the car." He demanded.
"Kinda what I'm trying to do love." I retorted.
"Why isn't anything happening?" He questioned.
"I don't know, if I did we wouldn't be in this situation." I snapped involuntarily.
"I'm sorry. We need to do something though. Like maybe we could roll the windows down a bi- never mind." He cut himself off realizing the irony of the situation.
"Grab a gun or two from the gun bag, make sure to get me some guns too." I ordered him.
"Grab a jacket for yourself, it's quite cold out." I continued, reminding him.
He passed me my guns and I immediately put them in my back pockets as he put his jacket on and then grabbed his guns.
"What's your plan?" He asked, looking at me with big eyes.
"On three we'll swing the doors open hard, hopefully pushing some back. Then we'll shoot all of them around the car, I'll look at the engine while you keep an eye out to make sure none come near us." I informed him of the quick plan I had made in my head moments before.
"Do you even know what you're looking for?" He asked me with a questioning look on his face.
"It's probably just the battery." I said. His only response was a roll of his eyes, making me roll my eyes back at him.
"Okay, get ready." I said, looking at him for conformation to start the count down.
"One, Two...Three!" I whispered, as soon as I said three the doors flew open, pushing back a couple incurables, but not enough.
I jumped out of the car, swinging the door closed as fast as possible and catching a glimpse of Louis, making sure he was fine. When I saw he was I turned around right as an incurable went to grab my hair. I stabbed the disgusting creature in the head, killing it instantly. I turned towards him hearing a small squeal. I saw an incurable on top of him a few feet from the car, his door still open. I jumped on the hood of the car, scrambling to the car door, closing it quickly but quietly.
I turned around to see Louis still struggling to get the monster off of him. I took quick strides over to him and ripped the bloke off of his fragile frame, causing my body to fall onto it. I struggled to grab my gun from my back pocket while holding this thing down. Once I finally got ahold of it, I squeezed my eyes and mouth shut then I shot. I opened my eyes to see I shot it square in the forehead, causing blood to splat everywhere on my face. I looked up to see Louis franticly trying to open the hood. I got up, walking over to him, softly grabbing his hands, causing his head to snap up at me. I looked into his bright blue eyes noticing slight redness in the white, as though he was holding back tears.
"I've got it, just keep an eye out and shoot whatever tries to come towards us. Okay?" I requested. He nodded in response.
Before he got too far I grabbed his wrist, making him look towards me. I felt a sudden shock of a feeling that I haven't felt in quite awhile. Concern. I was concerned about him, I knew he could take care of himself but I didn't want to take the chance of him getting hurt. For some reason I felt something towards him. I don't know what it is but I needed him. That's all I know.
