Jim always saw him here, in the same section of the bookshop, fingers flitting over the spines of his favourite novels as his gaze sought another book to read. He always moved to the corner, after he had picked his new book, settling down in the comfortable chair as he lost himself to a new adventure. Jim had observed him closely, and the only thing yet to sought out was the man's name.

At first the two had never noticed eachother, passing by without a second glance, merely strangers, but as they saw each others faces and spotted each other in that section more often, their ignorance of each other turned into small smiles exchanged, and small smiles exchanged turned into curious little glances.

The last time they had coincidentally met at the bookstore, Jim had vowed to introduce himself the next time they met, his curiosity getting the better of him. However, now, as he stood here, frozen between two tall bookshelves, nerves were beginning to make him regret his previous determination.

He hadn't expected to see him here at this time of day, it was usually late afternoon that they saw each other, he had noted, and to see him here at midday had hit him harder with the revelation that he had to introduce himself, with no further time to prepare.

He snapped out of his stupor as the man turned his gaze to Jim, and he quickly looked down, cheeks red from embarrassment as he walked towards the shelves, next to him, concentrating his gaze on the books in front of him, searching for the last one he hadn't finished reading. As he did this, however, he took curious glances over at the man next to him, curious to see what book he would pick up next. He still needed to introduce himself.

A dark blonde head and broad shoulders hunched over before straightening tall as he picked up a new book, looking down at it curiously as he read over the blurb. The man nodded to himself, satisfied, and his muscles flexed as he turned towards his corner. His intended step was middair when Jim panicked, and he grabbed the first book his hand fell on, calling out to him before he could walk to make himself comfortable

"Er-! E-Excuse me?"

The man turned, brow furrowing in curiosity as his gaze landed on Jim, and Jim held the book out, the only way he knew to introduce himself, scratching a hand behind his head as he avoided looking at the man out of nerves

"I-err, noticed you've been coming here a lot, and I just wanted to- introduce myself, and recommend this...book, it's-err, one of my favourites..."

He lied, he had only just picked up the damn thing, but as he looked down at the cover, his jaw fell in mortification, and he wished he hadn't opened his mouth. He had handed the man an erotica.

The man's own gaze flickered down to the cover, and a small, amused smile spread across his face as he quirked a brow

"One of your favourites, you said?"

Jim's eyes were wide, and he flushed a deep red in embarrassment

"Oh, no! I never meant-! I-I didn't mean-!"

The man shook his head as he let out a chuckle, and held a hand out to pardon him before stretching it out in introduction

"Sebastian. Sebastian Moran"

Jim blinked, pausing for a minute before holding his own hand out, and shaking it

"Jim Moriarty. Hi"

The newly named Sebastian smiled, pleased to get his name, and he had to ask

"So, Jim, what really is your favourite?"

Jim's eyes widened, and he beamed at the question, twisting himself so his fingers could flit over the spines of the books to find his favourite. He always became excitable when it came to books, and as his hand fell on his preferred novel, he handed it to the watching man with with a grin stretched across his face and a twinkle in his eye.

He gestured down to it as Sebastian took it from him

"That's one of my favourites. You'll love it, it's very sophisticated in its writing and morals, and the author is also one of my favourites"

He beamed as he moved his hands to clasp behind his back, rocking on his feet as he garnered his new acquaintance's expression. He watched as the man gazed down at it curiously, flipping the book over in his hand as he read across the blurb.

"I-err...haven't had the chance to buy it for myself yet, but I assure you it's good"

Sebastian rose a brow at that, finding it strange that the man had not his own favourite novella in his possession, and with a smile he offered to buy it for him. After all, the man had been virtuous in his introduction, and their meetings had been the highlight of his days.

As the man made his offer, Jim's eyes widened, and he practically spluttered, shaking his head and practically waving his arms about as he refused to let him do such a thing

"Nonsense" Sebastian dismissed his argument and moved past him, the book in hand as he strolled in the direction of the counter, and Jim looked on with his mouth agape as Sebastian ignored his refusal.

He came back not a minute later, book in hand, and he brought a pen out of his pocket as he approached Jim once again.

Jim watched curiously as he opened the front cover of the book, took pen to paper, and scrawled his number on the front before handing it back to Jim, now his.

He glanced down to the book, brow furrowing in a slight confusion as he read over the hastily scribbled message, and as he glanced back up, it seemed the man was turning to leave. But not before throwing him a wink, and leaving with a suggestion

"Call me"

...
lmfao so it's been like fuckin 3 years (?) since i've written this absolute guilty pleasure cheesy trash, but i made an observation while reading it over again to make myself cringe lmao. If that section had both Jim and Seb's favourite genre of books...how did Jim 'accidentally' pick up an erotica? huh? Jim's favourite genre is erotica and Seb isn't much better. Sluts.
