(Skylar's POV)

"Shhhhhh... it's alright." Jeffrey whispers, stroking my hair.

"How is this alright." I sternly ask, raising my face out of his chest.

"He was just drunk it's okay... he didn't mean it.." He explains.

"Are you seriously defending him?" I cry, prying his arms off me, starting to stand up.

"No- no I'm not it-" He stutters, apologetically.

"Wow." I wipe a tear from my cheek, as I stumble through the crowd of people who are too distracted by Patrick getting beat to a pulp. I grab Alec's arm as it swings for another punch, he stumbles back, confused. He meets my eyes, his wet with tears, I take his hands in mine, looking over his bloody knuckles. I frown as I motion him to follow me. Curious eyes look us over as I walk over to Katie's car, opening the door she must've forgotten to lock. Another tear falls down Alec's cheek as I turn to face him. Why is he crying in the first place?

(Jeffrey's POV)

Shit. Count on Jeffrey to mess everything up. What was I thinking? Defending Patrick. Why would I? I've hated his guts ever since homecoming. Why is life so confusing? After Skylar dragged Alec off of Patrick, people have sorta settled down a bit. I see couples walking down the beach together, some passed out on the ground, and some doing unspeakable things. Julia should be back by now, as soon as the thought enters my mind, I hear the click of a door opening.

"Julia!" I scream, running over and hugging her.

"Hey Jeffrey" She replies flatly.

"What's wrong? You're acting weird." I tell her, she shrugs and takes my hand in hers as we walk along the beach.

"So... we were going to talk about... you know.. space between us." She finally speaks up, tears build up behind my eyes, but I don't dare cry in front of her.

"I think all space between us should be eliminated immediately." I joke, she turns to me giving me a serious look. My expression stiffens, getting ready to hear what she has to say.

"Jeffrey. I need some time... To just be myself. I hate seeing you be so good to me when I treat you awfully. You're always on tour, I'm always at competitions... I just think we should take a little break.. See new people, you know? Nothing permanent." She explains with one quick breath. I remain silent trying to register what she just said. So we're lowkey breaking up?

(Alec's POV)

As I sit in the passenger side of the car, my previous sadness has now turned into complete rage. The only thing to keep me from exploding is Skylar sitting next to me, examining my bloody knuckles.

"You should've let me punch him longer. He deserved it." I choke out.

"We all deserve things, but we all don't deserve getting permanent facial damage." She replies, not looking up.

"Well being honest he already had that before I punched him. If anything he looks more attractive now." I laugh, she shakes her head with a grin on her face as she rubs her thumb over my knuckles once more.

"Alec.. why were you crying?" Skylar asks, the question catches me off guard, making me gulp.

"I wasn't." I reply flatly, she gives me a look of pure annoyance and I let out a deep breath, "Okay, it kind of hurts when you punch someone so hard." I reason, not meeting her eye.

"I don't see why it would hurt you, i thought Patrick would be the only one hurting." She tells me.

"Here, punch my hand." I demand, lifting up my less hurt arm. She smiles asking if I'm serious, and confidently connects her fist with my hand.

"I can see how that might hurt.." She laughs, gripping her hand.

(a/n) sorry this chapter is incredibly short and doesn't even really make sense... but alexa wanted me to write something so cool beans.
