                                          Avery's pov

Silence, was all I hear as my mind drifted off back into sleep. Desperate for comfort, I reached over to where Ezra was supposed to be but couldn't feel anything. My eyes slowly opened as the room was filled with darkness. Thunder suddenly struck. Causing me to flinch ever so slightly.

I stumbled out of bed and through the darkness, quickly pushing the bedroom door aside. My mind filled with bad thoughts of my brother leaving me behind in the dark. Teardrops already started to form in my eyes as I ran into the kitchen.

My eyes darted everywhere to find signs of where my brothers could've been but failed as the kitchen lights were off. I hurried to turn around when all of a sudden I bumped into someone. I screamed out loudly, scared that my 'parents' were back to punish me for leaving their house.

"Avery!" That voice sounded familiar, yet surprised. as I looked up and saw Tyson standing there with a candle in his hands. "Tie tie!" I yelled as my hands wrapped around him tightly. "I thought you guys left me!" I sobbed. As Tyson comforted me. "Why would you think that? We wouldn't want to lose you again!" He said. Slowly picking me up with one arm.

I quietly shoved my face into his neck as he walked away from the kitchen. "Oh Avery. Why'd you think we'd leave you behind?" Tyson asked me. But I was in too much shock to muster out words. He must've realised this because the next thing I knew. He was slowly stroking my hair with his other hand. Calming me down. Where did the candle go? I don't know. But there was a faint flicker around the corner where we were before.

I continued to sniffle as we entered a room where Jake. Ezra and Silas were in. "Avery! Ezra said. As he immediately ran over to me. Stealing me away from the warmth of Tyson. "I'm so sorry I left you behind!" He said as he gave me kisses all over my cheeks and forehead. Which made me giggle lightly. He carried me all the way across the room where Jake and Silas were sat there. Talking about what just happened. "Avery! Oh my gods I missed you even though it's just been only 5 hours!" Jake mumbled into me as he snuggled into Ezra. Which made him do the belch sound.

But I saw no attempts of Ezra trying to get Jake off. I guess Ezra could sense the worrisome tone Jake was using. Silas pulled the three of us into a bear hug. Which Tyson kindly declined. "Ezra. Why did you leave Avery alone?" Silas asked. No heat in his tone. "I thought the lights would be back on in a second! And Avery looked so tired I thought he would've slept right through it." Mumbled Ezra. Still getting sandwiched by Silas and Jake. "An actual sentence that made sense? From Ezra? I'm proud of you!" As silas kissed him on the cheek.

"Ew! Disgusting! Let Avery breathe!" He half laughed. Looking flustered by all the attention he was receiving. I smiled at them and quickly let out a yawn that I was holding in since we entered the room and started to fall asleep again. Feeling the comfort of a blanket covering me, I closed my eyes and began drifting off into the darkness once more.

                                        Ace's pov

"Why did the lights have to go out? I remembered paying extra just to prevent that from happening!" I sighed. "Maybe you didn't pay them enough?" Cason said. Chewing on gum while shining a torchlight right in my face. "So. 30k just to install a 'lighting rod' isn't enough?" "You paid 30k? Geez. No wonder it wasn't working." Cason replied. "The more expensive it is doesn't mean it works better than others." He added. Feeling proud of himself for saying something meaningful.

"You mean all those exotic cars you own that costed millions doesn't work?" I spat back. "Cars are exceptional. Ace. You know that." I groaned. Deeply regretting spilling the price of that stupid lighting rod to Cason. He was already enough pain in the arse to deal with. I pulled open the electric box and tinkered with the whole system before closing it.

The lights slowly flickered on as I gave out a sigh of relief. "Cason, go check on the rest. I wanna know how Avery is feeling. Don't want him to be scared again." I told Cason as I cleaned myself off with a towel. "Alright." Cason said as he went to check on them.

I threw the tools back into the toolbox and pushed it aside. Walking back into my office, I sat down on my chair. Continuing the work I was doing before. "Hey.. uh. Why is mom standing right outside the house?" Cason asked me as he sat down on the seat in front of me.

"What?"
