Anger never builds; it only tears down. In the heat of a single moment, it can feel like strength, an armor to hide behind. But when the fire fades, all that's left are the ashes of what once mattered. Anger doesn't solve anything-it devours patienc...

Chapter 31: Spy
The station was unusually quiet that afternoon. Papers rustled under the weak hum of the air conditioner, and the faint scent of burnt coffee lingered from the morning’s shift. Most of the officers were either buried in reports or too exhausted to care about the steady ticking of the wall clock.
“Officer Minyeol!”
Takashi’s voice broke through the hallway, firm yet laced with a faint tremor of impatience. He walked briskly toward the younger officer, who had just finished filing a report at his desk. The fluorescent lights above flickered faintly, their hum filling the silence as Minyeol turned around with a curious look.
Takashi crossed his arms, his eyes glinting with restrained curiosity. “Do you remember the items you returned to Kim Taehyung — the son of Kyushu?”
Minyeol blinked. “Yeah… I do. Why?”
Takashi leaned forward slightly, lowering his tone as though sharing something confidential. “Those were a USB and a brown envelope, weren’t they?”
Minyeol furrowed his brows. “That’s right. How did you know that?”
Takashi smiled faintly, his lips twitching with unease beneath the pretense of confidence. “You see,” he began, tilting his head, “Taehyung came to me recently. He was asking about those same items. I just wanted to make sure you really handed them back to him.”
Minyeol’s expression changed. The lightness in his eyes dimmed into something more analytical, cautious even. “That’s strange,” he muttered, almost to himself.
“What’s wrong?” Takashi asked, a subtle edge in his voice.
Minyeol straightened up, folding his arms. “Because I did give them back. But he told me to throw them away — said they were useless. Why would he suddenly be asking for them again?” His gaze sharpened on Takashi. “And why would he approach you of all people?”
Takashi froze for a split second, the air in his chest catching. His hand twitched before he quickly masked his hesitation with a forced chuckle. “Is that so? Well, maybe I’m mistaken then. I should’ve double-checked who I was talking to — I don’t really remember what Taehyung looks like.”
Minyeol’s lips curved into a knowing smirk, his tone light but his words cutting. “Really? That’s funny. Everyone in this station remembers him. Hard not to, honestly — the guy stood out. Most of the officers wouldn’t shut up about how striking he looked. Not to mention, he was loud about his complaints. He kept arguing about why no one was doing anything about his mother’s case.”
