Anger never builds; it only tears down. In the heat of a single moment, it can feel like strength, an armor to hide behind. But when the fire fades, all that's left are the ashes of what once mattered. Anger doesn't solve anything-it devours patienc...

Chapter 36: Humiliation
The afternoon sun poured gently through the villa’s wide windows, casting long beams of light across the polished marble floor. The air was unusually quiet—too quiet for Taehyung’s liking. Jungkook had left earlier for a business meeting, leaving him alone in the sprawling house with only the faint hum of the television breaking the silence.
He leaned lazily against the couch, flipping through channels out of boredom until the familiar voice of a news anchor caught his attention. His hand froze mid-motion as the broadcast title appeared on the screen in bold letters.
Breaking News: Jung Gaeul Under Investigation for Possible Involvement in Jeon Couple’s Death
Taehyung blinked, sitting up straighter. His heart began to pound before the anchor’s calm voice continued.
“Businesswoman Jung Gaeul is currently under investigation after authorities discovered new evidence that may be linked to the deaths of Jeon Junghyun and Jung Miyeon—the parents of entrepreneur Jeon Jungkook. Investigators now suspect that the deaths, initially ruled an accident, may have involved foul play. Lead investigator Fumiya confirmed that his team will also review those previously assigned to the case, citing possible negligence and obstruction during the original investigation.”
Taehyung’s fingers tightened around the edge of the sofa cushion.
He didn’t even realize he was holding his breath. The names—Jeon Junghyun, Jung Miyeon—were familiar to him, but what truly sent a chill through his veins was the next line.
“Investigator Fumiya also stated that Jung Gaeul may be connected to the murder of Kim Kyushu, who was found shot in the forehead in broad daylight. Kyushu, known to be a loyal maid to the Jeon family, may have witnessed the couple’s deaths. Authorities now believe Jung Gaeul ordered her death to silence her.”
The words struck him like a blow to the chest.
For a moment, Taehyung just stared blankly at the screen. His pulse thudded in his ears. It felt as if the air around him had been sucked away—his world turning utterly still.
His mother’s name. Kyushu.
The sound of it felt like reopening a wound he thought had long scarred over. He had spent months replaying her death in his mind, convincing himself there would never be answers. Yet here it was—the name of the woman behind it, spoken aloud on national television.
His body trembled—not with fear, but with a surge of conflicting emotions: disbelief, grief, relief… and a spark of long-buried vindication. Tears welled up before he could stop them.
“Eomma…” he whispered, voice breaking. “You’re finally getting justice.”
“Mr. Kim?”
Taehyung turned abruptly. Minyoung, one of the villa’s staff, stood by the doorway holding a dusting cloth. Her eyes widened as she noticed his tears.
