Chapter 46: Arrest Warrant

The investigation bureau was heavy with anticipation. Papers shuffled, phones rang, and officers moved briskly between desks as the long-awaited moment finally descended on them. It had been weeks of relentless digging—of gathering evidence, witness testimonies, and digital records—but at last, the threads had come together.

Investigator Fumiya stood near the center of the operations room, his hands resting on the edge of a cluttered table littered with files and photographs. His sharp eyes scanned the documents before him—each one bearing Gaeul’s name like a stain he’d waited years to wipe clean. He knew this arrest wouldn’t be simple; Jung Gaeul wasn’t just a businesswoman. She was influence, power, and manipulation rolled into one.

The door burst open. “Investigator!”

Officer Minyeol entered, slightly out of breath, his expression brimming with a mix of relief and adrenaline. He held a document folder tightly in his hand.

“We got the arrest warrant!” he announced, stepping forward and handing it to Fumiya.

Fumiya took it with both hands, his face unreadable for a moment as he scanned the seal and signature. Then he nodded—firm, resolute.

“It’s official,” he said, his voice cutting through the room. “We move now.”

The words were enough to set the station in motion.

Chairs scraped against the floor. Officers hurried to arm themselves with bulletproof vests and body cameras. Radios crackled with coded orders. A few detectives double-checked the case files to ensure every procedural requirement was intact; Fumiya had been clear from the start—this arrest had to be flawless. No loopholes, no hesitation.

“Get the transport unit ready,” Fumiya commanded, turning toward Minyeol. “And I want two patrol cars ahead of the main vehicle. She’s a high-risk target—her people might try to interfere.”

“Yes, sir!” Minyeol replied, already jogging toward the exit.

Fumiya took a moment to glance at the large board pinned with photos of the suspects—Gaeul’s picture at the center, connected by red lines to documents, bank records, and names like Yoseop, Jeon corporation and Kyushu. Her empire was falling apart, one exposed secret at a time. And now, with Yoseop’s arrest and partial confession implicating her directly, there was no escape.

He exhaled slowly, picking up his coat and sliding it on. “Let’s bring her in.”

Within minutes, the station was alive with coordinated chaos. Officers loaded into police vans, lights already flashing outside the precinct. Reporters who had been camping near the entrance began to stir as they noticed the sudden movement—sensing that something big was happening.
