Chapter 41: Official

The USB contained everything — the recorded call between Kyushu and Miyeon on the night of the Jeon couple’s death, and confidential files exposing Gaeul’s bribery of the family lawyer, all of which Kyushu had carefully compiled before her disappearance. Jungkook had managed to recover it, and that discovery alone reignited the fire within him. The pieces finally made sense — the manipulation, the forged will, the cover-up. Everything that had been stolen from him now had a trail leading straight back to Gaeul.

He was no longer afraid. He knew that this was the proof he needed — the weapon that would destroy her empire and restore what was rightfully his. The evidence was undeniable, the voices on the recording too distinct to dismiss. Every word Miyeon spoke, every tremor in her tone, every exchange of money between Gaeul and the lawyer — it was all there, unedited and irrefutable.

Jungkook had already handed the original USB and the brown envelope to a trusted authority, ensuring they would be protected beyond Gaeul’s reach. But he wasn’t reckless; he made sure to keep a copy for himself, encrypted and hidden. He did it for one reason — if Gaeul ever decided to silence him the way she had silenced others, her secrets would still surface. Even if he died, the truth would not.

And now, that plan was already in motion. Reports were beginning to circulate, fragments of the recordings and documents slowly leaking into the public eye. The story was spreading, catching the attention of media and investors alike. Jungkook could only imagine Gaeul’s expression — the rage twisting her face, the panic beneath her composure as the foundation of her lies began to crumble.

For the first time in years, Jungkook felt a quiet sense of justice stirring in his chest. The storm he had been waiting for had finally begun — and Gaeul would have no place left to hide.

“You’ve been grinning lately,” Taehyung said, his voice breaking through the sound of the movie playing in the background. “Did you have a good day?”

Jungkook blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. He hadn’t even realized that a smile had been lingering on his lips. The room was dim, bathed in the soft, golden glow of the lamp beside the couch. The movie’s dialogue played faintly, but neither of them was really paying attention to it anymore.

They’d both taken the day off, spending it quietly at the villa — just the two of them, surrounded by the stillness that felt both comforting and intimate. They had cooked lunch together, teased each other, and now they were just watching random movies, trying to act normal even though the air between them felt heavier than usual.

“You can say that.” Jungkook chuckled softly, leaning back on the couch. “After all… the truth is finally coming out.”

Taehyung smiled, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “That’s right,” he murmured, his tone quieter, almost wistful. “You’ll finally get the justice you deserve. You can live the life you’ve always wanted.”
