Anger never builds; it only tears down. In the heat of a single moment, it can feel like strength, an armor to hide behind. But when the fire fades, all that's left are the ashes of what once mattered. Anger doesn't solve anything-it devours patienc...

Chapter 20: Upset
Jungkook didn’t even glance back after walking away from Eujin. His face was unreadable, almost as if nothing had happened at all. He guided Taehyung into the restaurant with the same quiet steadiness he had shown all evening. Once inside, he led him to their table, pulling out a chair and waiting until Taehyung sat before taking his own seat across from him. The entire sequence was so natural, so fluid, that it seemed like Jungkook had done this for Taehyung countless times before.
The waiter came by, and they both placed their orders quickly. No extra discussion, no fuss—it was as though they were brushing off the chaotic scene outside like dust on their shoulders.
But Taehyung’s mind lingered. Once the waiter left, he leaned forward slightly, his brows furrowed in concern. “Are you sure we should’ve left her like that?” His voice was soft, almost hesitant.
Jungkook barely blinked. “You mean that girl?” His tone was cool, almost detached. “Don’t worry. If she wanted to, she could go home just fine.”
Taehyung’s lips pressed together, unconvinced. “But… she was drunk. And… I think she still liked you.” His voice dropped at the last part, recalling the way Eujin had practically begged for Jungkook back.
Something in Jungkook’s chest tightened, though his expression didn’t change. “It doesn’t matter whether she liked me or not,” he said sharply, his voice slicing through the air between them. “Our relationship ended. That’s it.”
Taehyung blinked at the edge in his tone, then gave a small, nervous chuckle, trying to soften the tension. “She was willing to come back to you, though. Isn’t that… something you’d consider? I mean, starting to date again? It’s not like it’s a bad idea.”
Jungkook exhaled, leaning back in his chair, his jaw tightening ever so slightly. “I don’t have time for that,” he muttered, almost to himself.
The corners of Taehyung’s lips curled into a small smile. “It’s strange hearing that from you,” he teased lightly, eyes glimmering with sincerity. “You’re literally sitting here, spending your time with me.”
The words hit Jungkook differently. For a moment, he froze, realizing that Taehyung was right. He hadn’t thought about his packed schedule, his endless work, or his usual excuses. Somehow, when it came to Taehyung, all those things just… slipped away. Without noticing, he had carved out a space just for him.
“It doesn’t feel like wasting time with you,” Jungkook said finally, his voice quiet but sure. His gaze lingered on Taehyung a little too long. “If anything, it feels like the only time worth wasting.”
Taehyung laughed softly, shaking his head. “That’s true. At least I’ll be more useful than anyone else right now.”
Jungkook’s brow furrowed, his lips parting slightly as if to protest. That wasn’t what he meant at all. The thought of “using” Taehyung never even crossed his mind, yet here Taehyung was, reducing himself to nothing more than a temporary distraction. It made Jungkook’s chest ache in a way he didn’t understand.
