Chapter 7

*JACOB HAWKES*

I watch slowly as Joshua falls onto my bed enthusiastically, but I don't call the police. I know not to because last time (in the winter), my brother fell asleep on his bed when I was playing mercy with him. I thought he fainted so I quickly dialed the number 9-1-1 on the home phone. When we got Joshua to the hospital, he woke up, and he told me he just fell asleep.

"Jacob, Joshua!" I hear my mom shout from downstairs. "Time for dinner."

So I rush downstairs taking Joshua's phone with me, leaving my brother upstairs. "MOM JOSHUA FELL ASLEEP AGAIN!!" I scream.

I check to see what Joshua was doing on his phone before he fell asleep. Then I see why he fell asleep: Avery texted him that the date will be in ONE HOUR, I look at the screen one more time, then fall asleep.

Just like Joshua had done.

*JOSHUA AND JACOB'S MOM*

"HELP!" I scream to my husband who is napping. "Both of the children fell asleep again! How will we wake them up? I heard they have a date in one hour! I was eavesdropping."

Someone slaps me on the butt. It is Landron, my husband.

"WHA- WHAT WAS THAT FOR?" I shout scared, for no reason.

"Florida, you're so annoying! I was sleeping, you annoying piece of oop spelled backwards!" He shouts back but not that loudly.

"Landronnnnn!" I scream. I know he doesn't like when I say his name like that, but when we had our wedding, I told the priest to say his name like that every time he had to. I laugh so hard a huge bird comes out of my throat.

"Ewww!!!! Florida Slithering Hawkes! You know we don't allow birds in the house!"

Then suddenly Jacob awakens and runs up the stairs. I am trying my best to keep the bird out of his view, but suddenly he screams, "Joshua, come quick we have a pet bird!"

And 10 seconds later a reply comes. "REALLY?! I'VE ALWAYS WANTED A PET!" And soon Jacob and Joshua come out of their rooms very well dressed, probably because of their date.

"Boys! Are you still going to that date?" I ask curiously.

"YEAH, WE ARE. WE THOUGHT YOU WOULD ASK!" Both of their voices reply at the same time from on top of the stairs.

"Do you have any sicknesses from when you fell asleep?" I ask even more curiously.

"No." Joshua replies reassuringly. "But how long have I been asleep?" Joshua asks.

"Yeah, me too, how long was I asleep?" Jacob asks.

"You fell asleep too?" Joshua asks Jacob.

"Yeah, I did, after I snuck on to your phone to see why you fell asleep." Jacob answers.

"YOU SNUCK ON TO MY PHONE? WHAT DID YOU READ JACOB HAWKES?" Joshua shouts. I am about to stop them from arguing but I just shrug my shoulders. Eh, who cares. I just walk into the kitchen.

I see Joshua's phone on the counter.

An idea pops into my mind.

I sneak on to his phone.

ONE HOUR TO GET READY?!

Don't worry, I already knew that. Remember? I was eavesdropping. And also, I don't fall asleep like those crazy sons of mine. So I text back the girl for Joshua, noticing he never did text Avery his new girlfriend - I think, back.

OK we're coming.
