Chapter 3 - Met a Girl in a Garbage Can

Chapter 3

*JOSHUA HAWKES*

I walk around my room disappointed that she didn't want to kiss me. Jacob, my brother comes into my room.

"Are you sad or something, bro?" He flops onto my bed.

"Nah, just sort of disappointed." I answer.

"Why?" He asks. When I don't answer, he begs. "Tell meeee."

"Fine." I grumble. "I saw a girl that I met a few weeks ago and I tried to kiss her but she didn't let me and then she ran away."

"Aw, that's sad. But why did you even do that?" He asks me.

"I don't know!" I shout, completely frustrated.

"Gosh. Calm down. I'm going to go to my own room." He says, then leaves.

*JACOB HAWKES*

I am sad for my brother but right now I'm not focused on him, because my mind is mostly on Adalynn, a girl I met in a garbage can.

This is how it happened.

 I was finished grocery shopping and I was heading to my car, when I saw a girl in a garbage can headfirst and some bullies!

I instantly became mad so I decided to stand up for the girl. "Why did you dump this girl in the garbage? The garbage truck is coming soon!" I shouted at them.

One of the bullies stopped, turned around and shouted, "This isn't over yet!" 

The girl that was in the garbage can was peeking out from the top of the garbage can. She looked afraid.  

When I looked back to where the bullies were standing, they weren't there anymore so I figured they ran away.

The girl suddenly spoke from behind me. "Hi, my name is Adalynn Starr." She lifted her hand that's all covered in disgusting garbage and tried shaking my hand.

"Um, your hand... It's er, very, disgusting." I finished awkwardly.

"Oh, yes. Sorry about that." She gives me a shy smile. "So what's your name?"

"My name is Joshua. Wait, I mean Jacob."

A confused look forms on her face. "Joshua or Jacob?"

"Jacob Hawkes. My brother's name is Joshua." I gulp at my name mistake.

"Oh, you have a brother? I have a sister! Her name is Avery." She says. 

"Interesting!" I say. 

"Okay, well thanks for helping me with the bullies. I'm always being bullied by them." She shakes her head. "Anyway, I think I should get home... And take a shower." She climbs out of the garbage can and runs home.
