Chapter 17

*JOSHUA HAWKES*

"OMG." I whisper into Avery's ear and suddenly find out I was kissing her ear the whole time, but she was happily sniffing my scent.

"IKR." She whispers back still happy.

"I can't believe it, our mothers are sisters." I say to her playing with a strand of her hair.

"IKR." She repeats. She is sniffing my scent again. She's crazy.

I look towards my mother and her mother, they are crying and hugging. This is so weird, so I motion for Avery to get up. I also motion to Jacob and Adalynn to stand up from the couch. I lead them to the basement, where there's a projector and we can watch movies there.

"I can't believe it. I'm in love with my cousin!" Adalynn exclaims, looking towards Jacob and then kissing him on the lips.

"Um, awkward." Jacob says awkwardly, but still smiling.

"We're cousins. I can't believe either." I say.

"Actually, Joshua and Adalynn, we're fake cousins, not real. So that means we can still always date the other." Avery points out.

"Ugh, I need some time to process this into my head." Adalynn says with a frown.

"Okay, let's go take a walk in the forest. It's broad daylight, we won't get lost. And anyway, I have my phone, and it has a GPS on it." Avery says intelligently.

I sigh. I really am in love with this girl.

We all agree to take the walk in the forest, so we head out. On the way to the front door though, we see our mothers talking to each other still. They seem to be recalling memories together before my mother ran away.

I smile when Avery takes my hand.

"It's such a beautiful day out today." Adalynn says in an "in love" tone to Jacob.

Jacob is smiling back to Adalynn.

I stop abruptly. "Guys, I have a really great idea." I smile, showing my teeth on purpose. "When we get married, we should have a double wedding!"

Jacob looks at me with a wide smile. "That's a great idea!" He says.

On the other hand, Adalynn and Avery look at each other. They have weird looks on each of their faces. "I don't think that's a good idea..." Adalynn says.

"Yeah... We've never wanted to get married at the same time. We have two completely views on good places for weddings, so yeah. That's not a good idea." Avery adds.

All of a sudden someone's familiar voice interrupts our conversation about weddings and comes from behind a bush... OH NO!

IT'S LEO KING!

*JACOB HAWKES*

Oh my goodness gracious great balls of fire. This is horrible. He will probably end up

embarrassing me in front of the girls - again!

"OH LOOK MY OLD FRIEND, WHAT A COINCIDENCE, JACOB SELENA HAWKES AND JOSHUA SELENA HAWKES!"

"I'm so jealous of your middle name, my middle name's a girl name, yours is at least a guy name." I say jealously but in a whisper to Joshua.

"Don't worry about it. You know you can change it right? You're eighteen, you have the right to change your middle name." Joshua tells me.

Leo King bursts out laughing "No, you can't change your name at the age of 18, DUMBHEAD!" He screams the last word to Joshua.

I look at Joshua. "So I can or can't?" I ask both of them curiously.

"Is this really the time-" Avery tries asking.

"You can. It's just that Mr. King here, doesn't know anything." Joshua glares at Leo King.

"You're wrong. I know everything, that's obviously why I'm a teacher. You two probably don't even know three times two!" Mr. King says.

"It's six." Joshua says with a 'duh' tone in his voice.

"No it isn't! It's seven!" Mr. King says, raising his eyebrows. "You two really are dumb. I guess I'll have to tell your parents you need to go back to kindergarten."

"No, they don't. Leo King, please stop. Even though you are older, we will not respect you if you will be so disrespectful towards us, thank you very much." Avery butts in bravely. She grabs Joshua's hand, and pulls Adalynn to me. "Let's go." She glares intensely at Mr. King.

"I HATE YOU ALL!" Mr. King screams. He narrows his eyes. "I'll get you all back one day."
