ticking time bomb

blurry lights reflecting off the wet ground from the fresh rain,
i've asked you this several times,
not just this night
but even from months ago,
and every time we make up after a fight,
"do you hate me now? do you love less than you used to?"
and your answer was always the same,
the same tone,
the same words,
the same thoughts,
the same feeling,
all laced together to make the perfect answer,
"no, i love you still. fights are normal in relationships,"
because for the longest time, love felt like a ticking time bomb to me, that one
more fight, one more angry burst
and everything i built and shared will start crumbling down to dust,
and when you came along and decided to stay and
promise a good life for us,
you made sure i unlearn this thought,
that whatever is real,
is here to stay
and that no matter what happens,
it will always be me and you.
